Interesting...

If the presidential election were being held today, for whom would you vote:

June 2004: Bush 42, Kerry 48
June 2008: McCain 42, Obama 48

I have made no political comments above the level of local government except for a few during my early days at the old Journal Times site. Then, as now, I found both "sides'" positions to be so hardened as to be impenetrable. I also find that no one "side" represents me or my beliefs. I know that I am usually cast with the right because of my comments about the city, mayor, RUSD, etc. I guess that I'm a "conservative" locally. The thing is, that's all I am: local. When it comes to national and, especially, international politics, I'm an isolationist. Not only do I not think that I have the right or insight to tell people in other countries what to do, but I don’t think I have much business sticking my nose into Iowa’s, or California’s, or any other state’s affairs, either. Our military always ends up following our businesses or missionaries into entanglements abroad. Reservoirs of blood have been spilled over private interests or beliefs. I’ve come to believe that WWII was the last “good” war. Politics is filled with lies, bullshit, and lying bullshit.

So which of the current two would I vote for if I had to? I don’t think it matters. We’re going to hell no matter who’s in office. We’ve got so many body parts stuck into so many countries’ wringers that we can’t get them out. Our destiny, though never completely in our hands, is less and less so with each passing day. Someone sneezes at the wrong time in the wrong place in the wrong way, and we’re toast. Or at least some of us. Or a lot of us. Biological weapons. Black market nukes. Power grid/information system attacks. Whatever. There are now enough insane people in the world pissed off at us that further, major damage to our country and its citizens is almost guaranteed. God Bless America!

And please, keep our southern border open and free, so that our trade unions can finally be smashed and the last remnants of a working middle class in the United States of America be wiped from the face of the earth forever! Amen.

Wow. You are so right, um.... correct, in what you say, orbs. However, you need to lighten up a little...if only for self-preservation.

It is really no different now than it ever was, and that spew you just laid is WAY too much for anyone to carry around and fret over. You are right, it really doesn't matter which way we vote. The talking heads are all speaking the same language.

As it says in my mutual fund documents, past performance is no guarantee of future returns.

Just a note on syntax here....nothing more. But isn't lying bullshit one of those double negatives? I mean if bullshit is a lie, then and lying is not telling the truth, wouldn't then lying bullshit be telling the truth?

Thanks AA. The reason I brought it up is because I was called a lying bullshitter one time and I didn't know what to make of it.
