Isn't it illegal to perform the duties of the mayor while under the influence?
How long does this farce go on?
It's like half the population of Racine does not exist to him. What the hell is wrong with that man?

Party on, Becker!
At one time, Racine was a jewel for a city of its size. Industrialists, present and past, developed a base in this city that put people to work, which indirectly provided for a good school system and ammenities (sp) you could only find in larger cities: a zoo, an airport, a parks system were concerts were held, class museums, and even a nationally recognized football team and so on. Times have changed and forces within, and beyond the city caused many changes. Some for good, but sadly to say, many for the worse. Face it, on the course the Belle City is going, it will only take one major company to move out, and this town will be erased off the map because too many have left before. Racine is desperately anemic for civic pride. Granted there were shootings, robberies, murders, and other crimes in the past. But it generally created a sense of shock in the community. Today we hold rallies, vigils against the violence but in reality it comes down to SSDD.
Water parks aren't going to change this city. Mr. Mayor, fix the problems first, get crime under control, offer businesses and companies a solid platform and a reason to relocate to Racine (even if it means going to Madison to kick some gubernatorial and legislative asses). Make it affordable and safe for people to want to live here. Get rid of mediocrity in education. Make it excellent education. If you do this, you won't have to spend tax dollars to put up a water park. Philantropists and the people themselves will once again take on the task and do it themselves, and will once again be proud when the plaque in unveiled which reads "A Gift to to the City and People of Racine......"
Well stated Logjam....
As for Becker, I’m not sure how many of you know he owns Valet Cleaners.
Orbs, instead of doing his Mayor duties, I think he’s spending time at the cleaners “snorting” cleaning fluids. I believe he’s down to having only one brain cell left.
A nasty rumor says the mayor is going to get his brother (who is an Atty), to sue you guys for slander.
That's not nasty, that's hilarious!
That would be a great public relations coup. I wonder how many attys would offer to defend the site pro bono? Definite ACLU involvement.
Btw, read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.
Every politician has a vision for tomorrow, that can't be implemented today, creating the illusion he is solving today's mess!
I posted this in another blog, but it fits here as well:
Anon... you must be listening to idiots. At least get the terminology correct. Slander is SPOKEN, you mean LIABLE?? There also has to be one major factor present; the things said must be proven to be UNTRUE.
So you and your buddies are lawyers all of a sudden? You think it would be profitable to sue us? Lawyers would never be interested; you've heard the saying... you can't get blood from a turnip. Check it out.... C-NET
The publicity would be fantastic! "Group of bloggers gets chased off of local newspaper's site for speaking their minds, then sued by mayor when they start their own site."
I wondered about the Journal Times' deletion of Lulu's comment about the mayor's choice of drinks and the weather - a deletion in a personal blog is rare for them.
I'd like to take this opportunity to state that I alone am responsible for this site and its contents. Indeed, I am probably half of the bloggers here (and easily two-thirds of the JT's). I've been internet role playing for so long that I no longer know who I really am. My dreams are a jumble of IPs and passwords.
I have absolutely NO money or assets, and I've been treated for psychiatric disorders for decades. I already have my "crazy letter" from my shrink. The last time I talked to a lawyer about anything similar to this, he said, "You're what we call 'judgment-proof.'"
I wonder if the trial will be televised? I gotta lose weight. They say the camera adds 10-20 lbs. and I'm already fat.
Go back to law school. It is well documented that if someone opines "In my OPINION, Becker is an idiot", they cannot be sued for slander, liable, etc.
Becker is a public figure, so many many rulings have stated that public officials are open to sarcasm. Probably the most noted case is when Larry Flint ran an article opining that a well known reverand (his name escapes me) screwed his momma in an outhouse.
So, go ahead, you drunken moron, IMHO, just go ahead and try to sue me.
Orbs, we know this already. There are a few others here that also had/have multiple personnas. All anyone had to do was look at IP addresses. Raised my eyebrows a bit when I did my own research at the JT site. Not that it matters much. I'm always easily amused by folks that argue with themselves.
We've all dabbled with a few identities at one time or another, no??? What do existential believers theorize? Aren't we are all just a figment of someone's imagination? What is real and what isn't? And orbs, there is no way you get to take all the heat on this one alone....
I was just trying to tip you off, not piss you off. I don't care for Becker, but fuck you all for the heads up I was trying to give you.
I am curious though if no one is afraid of being sued, why the disclaimer all of a sudden?? Sound like a bunch of pussies to me. (IN MY OPINION *DISCLAIMER*)
anonymous,
I know we're kinda loose here, but geeze you don't have to sound like a sailor in port.
