Thank God for YouTube!

I know this is most likely a big deal only to me, but here goes:

It was late at night in 1983. I could get WMSE in after 10 pm. The DJ previewed that he was going to play some Femmes, Talk Talk, Dead Kennedy's and Psych. Furs. I set my take player to record, and listened to my headphones. Needless to say I fell asleep. I listened to the tape next day, and this song was on it. Never heard it before. Never knew what it was called, but I thought it was called "Love Lost Forever". I looked at Mainstream, at the mall, in the old catalog book, but nothing. All I had was this old tape that I have broken and fixed numerous times and still have. I was researching for tonight's "Lost Video" post and all a sudden, that song popped in my head. So I said WTF, and typed in "Love Lost Forever". What pops up is "Love Lasts Forever" By a UK band called Kissing the Pink. Ill be damned if it isnt the same damn song, and I have had the name wrong for 25 Freakin years. Thanks to Youtube, and ebay i'll soon have the CD! Here is my 25 year lost, wrong name song:

Made me smile. Thanks. Reminds me a little of the Devo-ish style of punk rock. I can see the trouble; it is the pronunciation and English accent that tripped you up with the title, Stu.

So now I started digging around YouTube and found these from G.O.L., a band I discovered through WMSE in the 90's. They put out one album (Sensations of Tone) and contributed to a few compilation albums. None of the vids features the band.

No Bounds- G.O.L

Soma Holiday- G.O.L

G.O.L. - Angelica In Delirium

Ooo, and Boards of Canada:

Boards of Canada - 1969

Boards of Canada - Music Is Math

And Jesus and Mary Chain:

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Coast to Coast

the jesus and mary chain - here comes alice

Orbs-Out of all of the videos you presented,I liked The Jesus and Mary Chain's Coast to Coast the best-rockin' guitar work. I had never heard of G.O.L. nor Boards of Canada before. Not bad.

Stu-Yes,You Tube is a wonderful thing.Last weekend,I had Aerosmith's Draw the Line in my head. Seeing it was on one of my cassettes,I decided to You Tube it.I discovered bootlegged versions of it. Like a kid in a candy store,I was going from link to link discovering live versions that I've never heard before. Now,only if I collect them all put them a disc...

That's my favorite song by Jesus and Mary Chain, but I really don't know their work that well.

I have found some amazing stuff on YouTube, not just of musicians, but also authors. Anyone or anything you can think of, you can search YouTube for it.

The whole Internet makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. It just blows me away.
