I'm boycotting political posts
There is the saying is that the one thing that can ruin a good friendship between a guy and girl, (two guys, two girls what ever) is marriage. The same can be said about politics. In some of the past blogs, we all may have shed some light on our leanings. I know mine came out. Some I agree with, some I don't. I don't thinks there is anything that anyone can say to change mine, and likewise for me to do the same to someone else. And I sure as hell don't want politics to come between the intelligent conversations, the unintelligent conversations, laughs, and general BS of my irregular friends. However crapping on the Bears and Cubs is still fair game!

Spoken lkike a true republicrat! Grrr!
I agree with you 100%. People and positions are so polarized that it's more like warfare than debate. And neither side represents my views entirely. I'd really like to see viable third, fourth, and even fifth party candidates. Or maybe not - not if they're all just going to parrot party lines and lob rhetorical bombs at each other.
How did it get so nasty? (Please don't answer that if it just involves blaming the other side.)
Don't worry Orbs, we don't blame the other side.
We blame you entirely.
A third or fourth party will not be viable for a very long time. Its a shame.
I argee with you, logjam. Some of the political blogs can get downright nasty (especially at the RTJ). I don't want to get involved in the negativity. Secondly,I'm basicly politicaly clueless. I honestly don't know the difference between right or left wing.
Personally I am for "None Of The Above". I am also tired of listening to both sides or rather everyones side on the blogs. Thank you.
Logjam, I agree completely.
I don't get involved in the political 'discussions' (arguing), as I know how I feel and know that others have their own strong feelings, arguing about it won't change a thing.
I prefer to enjoy our differences and agree to disagree with whoever.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, I just don't like when things get heated.
I'm sure everybody basically likes everybody else here, and to let that stuff get in the way, is just not good. We worked too hard to unify as one big irregular bunch.
Yeah, we're not a melting pot; we're more like lumpy gravy.
I've stated before that I can't wait until it's over so the stupidity can be brought back down to a managable level.
I stopped blogging at the JT site because of the venom in the politcal posts. Wolf packs.
I figure political posts here are met with inteligent debate. Some of my beliefs are questioned, some are found out to be spin. I'm not as enamored with Obama as I was, but I'm still far from enamored with the McCain ticket.
I'll still post and read them here because even though I may not agree, at least the comments here aren't hot headed off the cuff. Most have well thought out ideals and beliefs behind them (even if the right is all wrong :-) ).
I think the fact that we have more "members" and less anonymous posts helps us. We take responsibility for what we say, be it good or bad. I may not agree with you, but I still consider most, ok, all of you my friends.
My best friend votes the opposite party of me. She even put a bumper sticker in her window... Goes to show, she isn't even smart enough to know where they go... he he.
I still love her and just tell her that we will go and cancel each others vote. (I didn't tell her that I plan on breaking her ankle the day before so she can't get out...)
WARNING!! KK IS NOT TO BE GIVEN ANY HAMMERS, TIRE IRONS BASBALL BATS OR THE LIKE UNTIL AFTER THE ELECTION!
ALSO, CHECK YOUR TIRES THE NIGHT BEFORE ELECTION DAY AND KEEP YOUR GARAGE DOORS LOCKED!!
Yeah, the political blogs here, even at the most contentious, are a far cry from the old JT site (and we actually have people writing about their opinions rather than cutting and pasting hack jobs...imagine that!)
I wouldn't want to see every blog be political and, thankfully, they aren't. Photography, telemarketers, jokes, cat videos, spam, and our regular lost videos series are all pleasant diversions.
But in the end, I will still post the political blog when I feel that MSM misses something or I feel I have something to say on politics. I promise you it will be my own view and not a cut and paste job!
Oh, and I haven't had the heart to look at the JT Irregulars Football league yet...I have a feeling the Half-Astrophysicists REALLY lived up their name this week!
Oh, help me Obi Wan... I posted a political comment elsewhere on this site...
Hale, it is you and me this weekend in the IFL. Be afraid, be very afraid... he he.
I know people don't always like those "political" bloggers, but I respond to a few posts on the JT because it's one of the few places I can discuss these issues period. Since I work for the Federal Government, I don't talk about politics with my coworkers or even family generally. And if you've seen any of my posts, and knowing that most fed employees are not conservative in their thoughts, blogging is about the only outlet I have to respond and discuss.
Now I suddently have the urge to say "My name is JAK, and I'm a political junkie..."
