In other news, Congress reported today that they still can't figure out why retail gasoline prices rose so high in recent years or where the money is going.
"The free market is a funny thing," snorted Senator Pocketstuffed, "especially when it ain't free."
Darn that OPEC!
ReplyDelete...And in the meantime, grandpa can't afford his heart medication if he wants to keep the house warm enough. Criminal... and we let them get away with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd why do we let them get away with it???
ReplyDeleteWe keep voting in politicians who have a vested interest and hands in all the big wigs' pockets.
ReplyDeleteEvery Democrat and Republican drink from this very deep trough.
ReplyDeleteI remember some politicians calling on OPEC to produce more oil to lower the price. OPEC said there was enough oil and there was another reason for the high cost. Now we here that the lower demand for oil is causing the price to drop. OPEC says they will reduce output to stabilize the price.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.......
We are long overdue on changing our reliance on OPEC and their oil... and they are taking advantage of it. Alternate, renewable, cleaner sources need to be implemented. We keep pigging up the earth with our carbon output and bantering back and forth about whether global warming exists. The US is one of the worst offenders.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Bin Laden reportedly say? "If you want to cripple the US financial market, make gasoline $4.00 per gallon."
Unfortunatly, I think gas will hit $4.00 a gallon again before the end of the year. And the commercial that is out (the one if you have to choose to feed your kid or your car) really says alot about corporate greed and the economy. Not only the fact that for some of us -it really is a hard fact... there are people that are out there right now struggling to make ends meet... my ends are fraying and Im not just walking on a tight-rope. My tight rope has turned into dental floss!
