Google includes us in their searches. That is how we get hits from other cities, states and countries.
I think the reason we show up on the top is that we have posted something fairly recently on the subject.
What surprises me the most is that some of these people who click on us for one thing, continue to read the page and click further...often times we are on a second or third page of results and they choose us!
It is interesting to see a new reader's activity, what blogs they choose, etc. (I waste way too much time sometimes) We do have some returning readers from other states now besides the ones who post regularily. Go figure???
Irregular minds want to know.
Just curious kk, I post links to some, well, not exactly mainstream sites like that Cassowary Gravitational Lens page (designed more for professionals, but I know a few people here click on it). If they are like you, they might see a few clicks coming from here and check us out and wonder who we are. Ever see any reciprocal traffic like that? I know we got one of the Chromatics to stop by when I blogged their new song which was kind of cool...even left us a comment.
HOT DAMN! I finally made Google!!!
KK,are some of these hits from Califonia? Barbara(aka Layla) has got us on a hyperlink from her blog site. I visit her blog quite often.
Some IP's show more than others. If they are from a business, it usually shows the name of the company or paying supplier.
Hale, the answer is yes, I have seen some reciprocal hits that could be linked to your posts and especially that genre. There is at least one or two more regular-irregular readers near your city that check in frequently.
I can actually label IP's when I figure out who is who. It is easier to decipher when the person actually posts a blog. The blog confirmation can be verified.
Drew, I'll have to keep a closer eye on Barbara. There are a couple areas from California that are frequent hits.
There are quite a few repeats from around this area who are very heavy viewers that I still can't pinpoint. Those are the ones that baffle me.
