On our way back from Florida, somewhere between Tennessee and Kentucky,
we kept finding these 3 semi's carrying a very intriguing load.
We have no clue what it is, any guesses??
I had a guess but don't want to taint your guesses, but will let you know
if we concur...
Now back to behaving and getting my foot up...

It appears to be a high frequency radio guide antenna. Radio telescope maybe? How about it HB?
ReplyDeleteIt's probably something totally useless to the average joe and paid for with an obscene amount of money by the government because of some pork barrel rider attached to a bill to fund a study of mosquito mating.
ReplyDeleteA large propeller...?
ReplyDeletethey look like blades to a wind turbine.
ReplyDeleteYou mean something like this wind turbine?
ReplyDeleteI do see what you mean also, AA...not a dish, but possibly parts of a feed horn style antenna.
Fungi, nice to see you again!
ReplyDeleteThat too, is what I thought, at least the only thing that I could come up with. I was just blown away by the extreme length of the thing!
I have to admit that my first thoughts were in the gutter. I mean, if it's longer than it is wide . . . Now, I'm so embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteHey fungi!
LM, I hope you don't mind, but I linked the Open Blog in the Features section to this blog because I forgot to put one up. More embarrassment.
hiyall
ReplyDeletehale-bopp i,m not sure how to link a picture but you can see one here.

they have abunch of these up in fon du lac county. they stand about 300 ft tall with one blade straight up.
Wind propellor blades with a white plastic elements cover on them.
ReplyDeleteThey are ery big. Big enough to crawl into.
Hey fungi, nice to see you again!I've seen those wind turbines you are talking about. I pass them everytime I go Up North.
ReplyDeleteYes, great to see you around fungi!
ReplyDeleteIt almost looks like some sort of space or air craft. If it was alien, it would be covered up, so I think we are safe.
You guys are probably right though, just a boring wind turbine generator. All the ones I've seen in person or could find on google images have the long straight propellers. I've never seen curved, shorter blades like those in your pictures.
It’s a thing-a-jig which is attached to a what-ya-call-it and all government sponsored
ReplyDeleteSome times they mount them to a who-flangie but they work on the same principle.
by jove SER, I think you've got it!!!
