We may disagree with him politically (often and loudly), but I sincerely wish Mayor Becker a speedy recovery from Kidney surgery. A little research indicates that Kidney cancer is usually found by accident and is often wrongly diagnosed as a kidney infection. Beware, as is often stated, what do you call someone who graduated medical school with a "D" average? Answer: "Doctor".

When is he having it done? Again, best wishes to the mayor.
I learned over the weekend that an old friend and mentor died from renal cancer a few weeks ago. They said he was sick for only two weeks, then passed.
Oh Orbs, that is sad. But again, thank goodness he didn't have a long drawn out illness.
I, too, wish the mayor a speedy recovery.
It was scheduled for today at 7AM.
I wonder if the Journal Times will post an online story about the results of the surgery? Last week, when they posted a story about the upcoming surgery, the comments got very nasty very quickly and they pulled the story.
12 minutes later, it was posted: http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/12/01/local_news/doc4934411442365792968807.txt. Good news. They say the operation was a success and the cancer did not spread.
"Already Becker has requested that someone from the city bring him a laptop so he can work from the hospital, Hughes said." Work, or surfing the web? Hi, Mayor!
Orbs, I'm glad it all went well...
I also saw that blog on the RJT...they had some pretty sick bloggers over there.
What do some of you clowns say, "We agree we can disagree", but I truely believe none of us want harm or sickness to come to anyone....
For all the huff and puff I do online, people are usually pleasantly surprised when they meet me to find out that I only eat small children on occasion.
Da Mayor is someone I'll throw sticks and stones at, but I wish a man named Gary Becker no harm.
Btw, Beejay, thanks for the condolences. Maybe some of you heard of him? James Liddy was a visiting professor of poetry at UW-Parkside when I attended. He moved to UWM, but we stayed in touch sporadically over the years.
My dad also had a nephrectomy for renal adenocarcinoma. I wished that was the only cancer he had since the tumor was well encapsulated. Speedy recover Mr. Becker.
SER, you are so right...we can agree to disagree, doesn't mean we have to get do vicious about things like this. Cancer is an awful disease (my Dad and my husband's father both died of pancreatic cancer). I would never wish this type of pain and suffering on anyone.
I think Orbs is right, we can get to battling over opinions and such, but never would any of us dream of wishing death on another human being.
My husband ended up with renal failure at the end and was on dialysis. I wish that on no one. His failure was due to the diuretics (is that spelled right).
Orbs...they also make a good Philly Steak sandwich. Left overs aren’t to good, but if you make a Fondue you can choke them down.
