This is another moronic undertaking by the hollywood assholes. The vast majority of people do not want gay civil unions described as marriage, but, according to these buffoons, we must be homophobic if we support prop 8.
Same goes if we didn't vote for Obama. We must be racists. Why else wouldn't we vote for him.
I can't see the video posted, I apologize if this comment does not fit due to my lack of access. I enjoyed school of rock. I'm not a Jack Black hat'ar!
gay civil unions described as marriage There has to be a way for these "unions" to not be penalized simply because they "don't fit a preconceived mold."
Do we use the Bible or religion to determine law or what love is? Hmmmm... Many of these couples are more committed than some heterosexual marriages.
KK. you are absolutely right. I guess the point I'm trying to make is this: I resent be labeled as a racist or homophobe because I decide to take a certain political view.
I didn't vote for Obama because I'm racist (nothing could be further from the truth) rather, I didn't vote for him because he does not share my political view.
By the same token, I do not support gay marriage, not because I'm a homophobe or gay hater (also could not be further from the truth) rather, it is because I object solely from a sociological and political viewpoint.
This video states that "prop 8" spreads hate. I do not agree with that assessment and resent them stating that people voting for the measure are homophobes. Some may be, some may object on religious grounds, others from only a political viewpoint.
When they call all proponents of prop 8 homophobes, they are committing the same sin (pun intended) of which they are accusing the other side.
Okay, AA, I will concede that not liking Jack Black should not be used a judgement of someone's sense of humor...I don't think I have ever seen a Jack Black movie but for someone who has done a lot of musical theater, well, they do a good job making fun of musicals.
And no, I don't think all conservatives are racist homophobes although I am sure you can find examples of what you would consider liberal hate speech as easy as I could find examples of conservative hate speech.
I think it goes without saying that I am in favor of gay marriage (or at least something that truly carries all the legal benefits of marriage which are not currently available in ANY state since federal benefits do not recognize same sex marriage).
Yes, AA... whenever sweeping generalizations are made everything becomes absurd and no one is well represented.
I don't, however, agree with your assessment that the "vast majority of people don't want gay civil unions to be described as marriage." I see this more as an exaggerated mockery to make a point more than Jack Black, et. al. being "buffoons".

Lastly, it's just not funny.
Thought you had a better sense of humor than that...guess if it makes fun of someone else...
ReplyDeleteI do have (I think) a good sense of humor, but I never found Jack Black to be funny at all. I guess it makes this time as well.
