Were You On Any of These Flights?

The Zurich School of Applied Sciences has been playing with airplane flights and mapping them. The resulting animation below shows every flight in the world over 24 hours...condensed to 72 seconds.

The patterns are interesting. You can see flight frequency decrease at night...the eastbound red eye flights. Many of the international routes are also clearly visible.

Not very practical, but pretty cool I thought.

That's been out for a bit. It's pretty neat. Kinda looks like that scene from the movie "War Games" when the computer doesn't want to play tic tac toe anymore.

I loved that movie logjam. I prefer the midnight flights... much less crowds. The only problem for me is I can't sleep in public, never could.

I like that movie too. I took a tour through Cheyenne Mountain and NORAD and the set for the movie was very realistic. I have no problem sleeping in public. I was usually in that state in most of my classes in high school.

I try to sleep in public. That's how I deal with reality.

Cool video.

Pretty neat. I can't sleep on a plane because I'm too excited. I love looking out the window. The most boring flight was to Norway and then everyone shuttered their windows. I also liked the day of 9/11 when they showed flight info on the TV with all the planes being told to land.

Confession: I have never flown. With an airplane, that is. Unless it was named Jefferson.

I know a guy who flew to India. He was on the plane for almost 20 hours. I can't imagine.
