Actor takes blame for gun accident
Good grief. Read this story about a stage troop here in Florida. They needed a gun for a production. Someone takes their gun out of the sock in the drawer and brings it in. No testing of the gun. The play is in rehearsal. The actor fires the gun and ta-dah, there are bullets in it.
This may be up there for the Darwin Awards this year!
I think Hale's Dad knows these people and may even help out at this theater. Hale???? Any inside dope????

They had to reattach his ear. A few inches, and it would have been exit stage, permanently.
whoops... how's that for a senior moment??
I'm stuck for his name, but there was an actor who killed himself with a gun that had blanks in it. He put it up to his temple and pulled the trigger thinking (wrongfully) that it woudn't hurt him.
Oh yeah...cowboy type actor years ago...I remember that.
I don't think from what our paper is saying that they had to reattach the ear, just ended up with some stitches. I couldn't believe how very lucky he was!
Yep, it had to happen in Florida.
Not only does my dad volunteer there to hang lights, I performed many shows at the theater including Cabaret, Chicago, My Fair Lady, and many others.
This was an external group that rented the theater, not the resident troupe. I have not talked to my dad since the accident, but I am sure I will get an earful about it when I talk to him this weekend (we usually talk on Sundays).
I'll post if I find out anything interesting.
Apparently, the shootee is a little upset and the shooter is very upset and the person whose gun it was, it downright livid that he/she was so stupid. I thought I had read it was a woman who took the gun out of her nightstand and two socks...lol! It was like something out of a grade B movie.
AA...I remember that. The wadding from the blank went right into his brain and killed him.
Talk abut the mind of a minnow...gezzzzzzz
Yeah, you can kill someone just by hitting them in the temple. The concussion alone could do it.
I'm not into guns, but I have a buddy who is. He likes to show off his firearms, and I don't mind looking. He is always very careful to check each weapon first; then he shows me that the clip is empty, the chamber is empty, the safety is on, etc.; then he hands it to me. That is simple respect for something that can maim or kill you. I display the same respect towards machinery, power tools, vehicles, etc.
AA,I could be wrong, the guy you are thinking of is Brandon Lee from the movie The Crow?
