Very strange story... The owner of the vehicle is deceased? The driver's coat was stolen from a bar with the keys? The thief knew what vehicle to use those keys in? No apparent cause of death? Can you wave any more red flags????
Usually, this doesn't happen until it warms up. AA, what makes you think this year will be any different than last year? If there is reason for hope, I unfortunately, don't see it. The guy himself had to find the vehicle. RPD couldn't find it sitting out in the open.
I'm with you KK....SOOOO many untold parts of this story! It just left my head whirling. Why did the driver of the truck have a dead guys truck, was it a relatives truck? Shouldn't it BY LAW have been put in the new guys name and will he get sited? The guy on the floor wasn't the thief? Did the guy that had the truck after he realized his coat was gone notice someone was gone from the bar? ............ARG.........I wonder if we'll ever get the full story on this one!
People in the hood don't do things they way "normal" people do. They don't bother with things like registration or licensing of vehicles, or even licenses for themselves or insurance. They don't carry ID. They don't follow any of the "rules" of society, but scream like crazy when they feel that a rile is being violated against them. And, generally, the police give them a pass.
Last summer, as I waited at a stoplight, a young woman started walking out into the crosswalk, just as the light was about to turn green. She slowed down, glared at the vehicles waiting at the light, and then proceeded to slowly cross the street, stopping to look at he cars and show her disdain for the crossing signal. After she crossed, I peeled out to show my disgust with her attitude, but I did not speed - you can get rubber and still keep it below 30 mph. A cop immediately pulled me over and started lecturing me. I asked him why he didn't say or do anything to the woman who obstructed traffic. He told me to "relax" and took off.
I KNOW why they don't do or say anything to such people. It's because lecturing/fining/arresting them is a joke. The fines will not be paid, the people will not show up for court, etc. It doesn't matter. So the police lean on those that they CAN control, the law abiding citizens. It happens every day a thousand times over, constantly reinforcing the truth that certain people don't have to play by the rules in our city because it's just too much hassle to enforce them.
I once watched a young teenage kid walk down Main Street swinging a plumbing pipe about 4 feet long. Swinging it wildly. I was in the Open Pantry on Main and there were 4 or 5 cops there on break. I pointed out the kid to them. They all looked out the window and watched the kid walk along, then ignored it. I walked outside and said, "Hey," to the kid. He dropped the pipe and ran away. The cops did nothing.
I could tell you many similar stories. Certain segments of our society have been written off by law enforcement. They just don't care what they do, they ACCEPT crime as a way of life.
PS, if you complain like I just did above, you will be labeled a racist. Never mind that it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with law and order and common sense and decency and respect for others. It doesn't even matter if the people you complain about are white. If you expect the police to actually do their job in Racine, you are a "racist."
Orbs, you are exactly right. The same thing happens in the schools. If you are a decent student, you better not be in the halls without a pass.
The hoodlums can parade around like they own the place: multiple truancies, gang handshakes, pants around their knees, chains swinging from their pants, gang affiliated clothing... Nothing is done.
It starts from when they are young. If you are scary or loud enough - or your parents are, no one questions your behavior.

This is a strange one for sure
