51 degrees, what are we doing to break cabin fever?

I thought the kids and I would take a nice ride. Drive by the light house, go through Pet's (if they let us), drive by the fish hatchary. Any other thoughts of some sites in Racine we can drive by? It's going to be muddy so not much running around but anything to get them out of my house for awhile!

  1. Don't bother driving down by Pershing Park behind Gateway. I live near there and often enjoy the view of the lake, but it's obscured now by the mountains of dirty snow trucked in from the city's parking areas.

We need the thaw, at least psychologically. But you're right about it being a mess. The melting snow reveals all the dirt and garbage. I'm going to try to clean up some of the peanut shells from what I've been feeding the squirrels this winter.

  2. I opened a window to get some of that fresh air. I live near our apartment building's laundry room. The wind is wafting the aroma of fabric softener dryer sheets into my apartment. Ahhh, sickeningly sweet chemical fragrances....

  8. Boy has everyone got cabin fever? I'm looking out the window and some nut's washing his car in a t-shirt! Maybe we'll just ride around and count how many people think it's summer with out coats on...........

  9. I thought about getting the truck washed yesterday, but then I thought, "No, the melting snow and ice is going to make a mess."

  11. I stood out in the sun for a little bit today, trying to soak up some vitamin D. I saw a news article that rickets were actually making a comeback in the great white north... Gee... actually, the sun felt nice but it was still cool without a coat.

  12. I had on my winter jacket, which was too warm, but you did need something on. It was great. A psychological boost for the people. We needed that.

  14. Yeah, that's what NWS is saying at this point. Hope we don't have any prolonged warm spells just yet, otherwise some plants and trees get fooled into budding, and then nipped by frost.
