In fact, I think it should be a requirement of any new TARP fund disbursements that the top executives of a company receiving those funds must commit hari-kari in order to demonstrate that the firm is willing to change its ways.
“We cannot attract and retain the best and the brightest talent to lead and staff the AIG businesses — which are now being operated principally on behalf of American taxpayers — if employees believe their compensation is subject to continued and arbitrary adjustment by the U.S. Treasury,” Edward M. Liddy, chairman of AIG, wrote.
That's right, they can't attract "the best and the brightest" to run the company into the hole to the tune of $170 billion taxpayer dollars, so far . . .
I like Sen. Grassely's idea. I can think of a handful of Senators and House members that should do the same thing!
Apologies are much cheaper in America where there are no morals or consequences for dishonor.
I think the Senator was off base in mentioning suicide. I do understand his point, that there should be some remorse or punishment. Saying it that way only discredits him.
Once again, when you are in the public eye, as a public servant, you must think before you open your trap. Families who have dealt with suicide will find that remark totally offensive.
I don't understand it either. Reward your employees who literally bankrupted the company?

One of the websites now says that 75 or more executives got over 1 million in bonuses.
This is insanity at its best.
"Suicide is Evil" and doesn't belong in the BS that comes out of our representatives mouths.
