Mayor Tom Friedel gave Racine's State of the City address last night. He said “the state of the city, in a word, is good.”

I'm assuming, then, he has fixed the job situation and unemployment figures are down? I'm assuming our police department response time is improved. I'm assuming the crime rate is down? We no longer need to worry about being shot on the street or at the store? The lake is clean and there is no threat to anyone swimming in it? When did this all happen?
But, kk, downtown is beautiful! Everything is fine!
I'd like him to come and live in my home for a weekend.................... I'm thinking it'll change his view of our city.
I wouldn't be surprised if Friedel and Becker still communicate and run ideas off each other. Friedel was the aldermen closest to Becker while he was mayor.
People around city hall are saying Friedel is becoming more pompeous and arrogant everyday. Sounds like being mayor has already gone to his head.
Anon, of course they are still buddies. Anyone who thinks that the arrest of the Beckerphile will change anything in this city is deluded. I certainly know that my rantings and ravings will have no effect - I'm just compelled by the damn moral compass that those nuns instilled in me before they started covering for the priests diddling kids. Men like Becker are our new leaders - men who a few generations ago would have been put down like rabid dogs.

Orb, I'm glad you recognize the nice Downtown. I also get your sarcasm..But I think the revitalization has taken a long time it is now reaping the rewards, of ALL of our patience.. In fact it is so nice that the Temporary Mayor and nearly the entire City Council, have decided to BLOCK future businesses!!!
So for of you folks out there thinking it'd be nice to invest in Racine..never mind, were gonna raise our taxes, build a train no one will ride, and now don't even think about becoming part of our nightclub scene!!
And what's with the beards? Both Becker and Friedel started growing beards the day Becker was arrested. I assume it is some sort of symbol of solidarity amongst pedophiles.
Hmmm, has anyone seen a recent photo of Ben Hughes? I wonder if he has a beard now, too.
God - Hughes would look like a total sleeze with a beard. Similar to Peewee Herman with a beard. Blech.
