Cocaine tablets (1900)

All stage actors, singers teachers and preachers had to have them

Not only they relieved the pain, they made the children happy!

Opium for new-borns

I'm sure this would make them sleep well
(not only the Opium, but 46% alcohol!!!!!)

This is why they were referred to as 'the good ole days!'

Go back to a much better time, when things were so much simplier...cuz, they were stoned most of the time!

Everything is opinion and perception...

Dylan said it best:

They'll stone you when you're trying to be so good. They'll stone you just like they said they would. They'll stone you when you're trying to go home. They'll stone you when you're there all alone. But I would not feel so all alone...Everybody must get stoned!

Amazing what now can land you in jail for quite some time when it once was totally legal. Thanks SER.

Tincture of cocaine is still used as a local anesthetic when suturing wounds. It is very good, short acting and works especially well on kids. Obviously it is a scheduled II drug. But remember, this stuff was all legal until 1932(?). Dr. Feelgood's tonic (and probably Shoop's) really didn't cure lumbago, but with what was it in, it sure felt good.

KK, I like this one also by Kenny Rodgers and First Edition when he sang rock & roll...

I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in
I found my mind in a brown paper bag within
I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high
I tore my mind on a jagged sky
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

(Yeah, yeah, oh-yeah, what condition my condition was in)

I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in
I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in
I got up so tight I couldn't unwind
I saw so much I broke my mind
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in

I'm just wondering: If someone had a bottle of this stuff in it's original bottle, could they be charge with possession of a controlled substance or would it be ex post facto?

AvengingAngel said...

Believe it or not, but ex post facto does not pertain to controlled substances.

If shooting a guy that was sleepling with your wife was legal today, you shot the asshole, then they passsed a law against it tomoorow, then ex post facto would apply.

When they make a substance controlled, all of it becomes controlled. The best example was prohibition. If you had bought liquor the day before, it was still illegal the day after.
