Storm check........is everyone OK out there?

I'm doing Ok just have a little water in the basement right now and a very scared little boy on my hands. I've been watching the weather channel and It's kinda freakin him out.I just can't seem to turn it off.

How's my JTI family doing in this storm?

  1. I heard a house in the 1800/1900 Carlisle ave was hit by lightning. All are okay. The strike broke water pipes in the basement and started a mattress afire in the 2nd floor.

  3. I woke last night and couldn't sleep. All the flashes. I've become stone deaf so none of the rumbling bothered me. As I sat at my computer (surge protection) the entire house shook. I thought earth quake it was so pronounced. We didn't have a tornado did we? No basement, so no flooding, and my tree is still standing.

  4. There was a storm?

I don't know about the Weather Channel, but I wouldn't watch any broadcast TV forecasters. Their job is to create hysteria (read: ratings). My mom watches those yahoos, then calls me up all upset and agitated. She's 88. How many tornadoes has she seen? None. But all Vince Condella has to do is fart and she's convinced it is the end of the world.

  5. Still ship shape here. Although, I almost feel hungover from the impromptu nocturnal soiree last night. Warning sirens going off in the middle of the night is pretty unusual. Tried to nap this afternoon, but that isn't happening.

From what I've heard, we need to brace for round 2 tonight. The brief sunshine we are getting is supposed to fuel more fun this evening. yippee.

  6. I totally love storms. When told this morning we had a big one last night I was disappointed. Darn! My cat on the other hand HATES them. Today she sits all day at my feet. She will go and hide behind the bathroom door with my bathrobe over her. She won't even leave me console her. Another tonight? Hooray!!!!! I always feel it's God telling us just who is in charge.

  7. Slept like rock last night, so I didn't hear anything. Saw some storm action while I was at work.

  8. If the thunder & lightening gets to be too much, my cat is huddling close. and I mean...real close.

Huck, surge protection isn't gonna help. That spark is jumpin 30,000 feet or more. Ain't no surge protection you can buy is gonna help if it lands close.. best bet is to unplug and enjoy the show out the window..

Too bad, we were gonna head up North today. Just don't want to drive through all the storms from here to there. Guess we'll try in the morning.

  14. My daughter found it great fun to wake up in the middle of the night and get to go down in the basement (thats where a bunch of her toys are, my parents made it into a play room down there). We are all okay, just kinda tired and crabby today.

  15. I have some water in the basement now. More water than ever in 22 years here. Might need to start chucking things out tomorrow. There is a deep swamp in my backyard. I have to hope it doesn't get any worse. Enough rain Zoltar... please make it stop!

My poor neighbor across the street has much more trouble. Looks like sewage backup into the house itself.
