Microsoft Offers Free Security Software

I pre-ordered Windows 7 through that deal they had earlier in the year: http://www.jtirregulars.com/2009/06/windows-7-pre-order-offer.html. I'm installing it on a different machine from this one that is also licensed for Norton Internet Security. Symantec claims that Internet Security 2009 will be compatible with Windows 7 with a special update. (NIS 2010 will be compatible from the ground up.)

I think I'll have enough trouble installing, updating, finding drivers, and getting used to the new operating system (I've never used Vista), that I may just download Microsoft's Security Essentials in the hopes of better compatibility with 7. Like a lot of people, I'm ignoring the standard "Wait for the first Service Pack" advice and going with the first release. I hope it goes well.
