This is the best way to dispose of old prescriptions and keep them out of our water supply. It's bad enough that we have mercury in our fish. We don't need them hooked on tranquilizers, too.

That is great news Sheriff. I have lots of meds from my mom, some of them never opened or used. That happened when my dad died too.
The fact that many people don't take their prescriptions because they can't afford them, makes me really wish that you could donate this unused medication to those who can't afford it. I understand the safety issue, but it is a terrible shame that something so valuable has to be destroyed.
Oh great, no illegal drugs. Now what am I supposed to do with all this China White?
Thats great, here in Sweden you can always take your unused medications back to the pharmacy and they dispose of it properly. They have a basic rule (whether it's a law or just an understanding I dont know) but if you sell something that should not be placed in the landfill because of it being toxic or dangerous for the groundwater that store will also take and properly dispose of those items when they are done. This is true for chemicals, lightbulbs, batteries and outside most grocery stores you will see recycling bins.
