Can it be that time again?
A little birdy told me that it's time to nominate for Bird of the Week. Who really steams your rice. Who burned your fries. Who crunched your cookies. What made your noodles boil this week. Let off some steam and nominate here. Name and reason please.
I nominate Cory Mason for voting against a bill giving Racine County 1 million to fight welfare fraud. Vos and Lehman loved the idea. Cory the carpetbagger said No. I guess he thinks it's OK to perpetrate fraud.
How about the school board who voted unanimously to raise taxes an unreasonable 8.3% while having the public policy forum come to Racine and report no improvement in 12 years.
How about people who make YOU look unprofessional by reading your emails within 30 seconds of your sending it... but then ignore your request for necessary information or assistance and never respond? I was considering sending a couple of dead fish to several upper level management this week.
Ok I have been debating for the last day but I am going to be selfish and nominate The Journal Times. Guess people have noticed my website and the JT decided to do their own crime map, etc. At first I was like, great, the more we can inform the people here in this town, so we can become proactive to make this community safer and prosper the better. But they aren't giving accurate figures. They are only plugging in the "stories" they do as major crimes on the crime map. I'm sorry if I live in a neighborhood I want to know if there are "shots fired", fights, thefts. To the JT someone getting somethign stolen that isn't very expensive isn't newsworthy but I want to know if someone is stealing in my neighborhood. I want to know if there are fights breaking out and shots being fired so I can become aware of my surroundings. Sorry about the rambling, I some days bust my butt doing that site on my "Bad MS" days but it's because for some damn reason I still care about this town. (thanks for the kind words too orbs)
I noticed that they copied you too, rac-uncovered. They look at what we post and copy it when we scoop something or post something of interest. They must teach that slimy practice in publishing school. That has been their SOP (standard operating procedure) for a long time.
We post a story about something happening, I SEE them reading it, the exact time they access it, and then it "appears" maybe an hour later online and the next day in print. They copy the Racine Post and Racine News too. They actually threatened one site, with legal action, saying THEY were stealing from the JT! Quite the contrary.
As steamed as my rice is over my own beef, it is hard not to vote for the good old JT, simply for bad business practice if nothing else and a totally crappy product to boot. If you don't make it to the top this week, feel free to just keep nominating them.

I'm having a good week, I steamed my own rice and it was good, and my cookies are in tact, but I've vote when we get some nominees :)

I nominate my stomach because it hurt alllll week.
I believe the “flying fickle finger of fate” should go to Obama, just because.
