Mathemagician

I just saw that mathmatician Arthur Benjamin is the guest on the Colbert Report tonight. Bejamin is one of those masters of doing mental math in his head faster than you can even punch it into a calculator. I have heard interviews with him before and he is very entertaining. Here is a good one from the O'Reilly Media Emerging Technology Conference in 2007. Give it a listen (for free!)

I can figure out my change in the check-out line as quickly as the register does, and I can still work out the tough ones with pencil and paper. Apparently, that's an accomplishment these days.

Hell, I had a slide ruler in college. That was just after it replaced counting chicken bones as the main method of achieving higher mathematics.

The video is funny. No one can really get much of their point across on the Colbet Report, of course, because he makes everything a joke.
