Where do you / would you send your kids?
If you found out the school you are sending your kids to was no longer going to be available, where would you send your kids to school? ~ The kids are young, there are going to be in third grade and first graqde next year. I could really use some advise. Thanks, guys!

As down as I get on RUSD administration, there are some extremely excellent teachers, teaching at Unified.
The trick is to get involved in the school and volunteer. (I don't see that being a problem with you) Get to know which teachers are the good ones. Usually, the parents who put in time at the school have pull on what teachers their children get.
My kids all went through Unified and received an excellent education. (in the 3 R's and in life) Two of the 3, so far, have graduated from prestigious colleges on the dean's list.
Those who choose to learn, will do well anywhere.
My kids went to Prairie. If you can afford it, or qualify for a Hilpert Scholarship, it may be worth looking into. The early and middle schools do an outstanding job in not just teaching kids, but teaching kids how to learn. Except for one, the other 3 kids bailed on the Upper (high) School. If your into a college prep, it's fine. But the negatives for kids that age is the athletic program and lack of industrial tech courses.
Thank you for your advise. Right now, we have no idea what we are going to do with our girls.
As most of you know, our kids are currenly at one of the catholic schools in town. Well, over the last couple of years, it seems everything that could possibly be cut has been cut. Friday we received the new tuition rates for next year. Tuition is increasing in the 25%+ range. The hubby and I just refuse to pay that much more money for what we see as less education.
Tonight we went to orientation at Fine Arts. It seems like an excellent facility; however, I'm not sure if it is for my girls. I am going to go to orientation at Jefferson Lighthouse and Red Apple as well; perhaps I will see one of those schools as a better fit. I'll keep you all posted.
Homemomof2, Red Apple is a great school! My son went there and he loved it! The teachers there are great and they'll go out of their way to make sure the kids get a proper education.
Racine Montessori. My daughter had the best education there and is so far ahead.
I hope when you say "we" your kids are going with you. There are many schools that can give good educations and finding the right fit is important.
I went to an orientation at Jefferson Lighthouse. I was really turned off by their elitist attitude. I chose to keep them in the regular schools. I wanted my children to be more grounded. Good luck in your pursuit.
I went to Jefferson and really liked it, thought it was a great school. I do however understand a lot has changed since then. I'm sure the elitist thing was present then as well as I can think back to a few of the students, but from what I understand it is present in full effect now a days. I just thought they did a great job teaching respect for authority and each other and really pressed creativity.
I had a family member go there (Jefferson) because he had a hard time at Fine Arts. He is/was a very hyper child (been tested for ADHD and the like but came back "normal") he had/has a very high IQ and they believe because of that he was having a hard time staying focused at Fine Arts along with that a teacher that made life hell for him there at Fine Arts. Jefferson really seemed to work for him.
It's funny that you mention Jefferson Lighthouse. I went to JLE myself. Last yeaqr, my youngest was accepted there, but I did not send her because when I was there it was crazy competitive. I don't have too many "good" memories from elementary school for that reason.
I need some divine intervention. Perhaps I should write to madame Z.
