For the third time in the past two weeks, I cannot fall asleep. This is not like me. I usually fall asleep quite quickly.
I remember my father battling insomnia as he aged. He would tell me how much he envied me my sleep. He died when he was a year and a half older than I am now.
Do you ever get insomnia? If so, what, if anything, do you do about it?

My husband used get insomnia on a regular basis...a bowl of cereal with milk usually put him out!
I am having the same problem. I sleep at 11 up at 1 sleep till 3 get up, and sleep till 5 get up. I try everything..think of peaceful sights, but nothing works. It wears you out. The other day I slept 8 hrs (with a little help from codine) and was so excited about it I cleaned the house. It's almost like I lost the ability to 'go to sleep'. I was actually thinking of a drink of booze or two. Doc gave me something but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for bringing this up. Any answers?
I have bouts of trouble with it. It seems to pass eventually. I don't lay in bed and toss and turn anymore. If you fret about it, it just makes you more anxious and makes it worse.
I usually sit at the computer, watch some very bad tv, read, or plug myself into my mp3 and try to ride it out. The 5 am alarm is my worst enemy. I'm usually sleepy and finally fall out of consciousness around 4 am.... grrr.
I finally nodded off at 4 am.

What I don't understand is how I get all the sleep signals (like yawning, and feeling tired), but then can't fall asleep when lying down.
I definitely do not want to try any sleeping pills. I'm hoping that it's a passing thing.
