I copied and pasted a few paragraphs from a story I wrote. The result was:

I heard about this and was going to post it as well.
Stephen King for what its worth.
I just entered my most recent blog entry (see above) and it said Margaret Atwood...I am a diverse dude!
Very neat link, thanks, orbs!
I entered some text from my blog posting about higher ruling over email privacy. My results are Stephenie Meyer. Not a bad deal. She made some dough and had quite a bit of fame and following with her Twilight Series books. She is also quite a bit younger than I am... score again!
I had to give it another go..
Hale, you aren't the only diversified writer. My second piece I submitted was the blog I posted on MMSD and the sewage dumping. It came up with this result: David Foster Wallace
I had never heard of him. He was a professor at the University of Illinois -Urbana and received a "Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of Arizona," according to Wikipedia. His style incorporated mostly irony; he was an introvert, very shy and in 2008 he committed suicide.
Sorry to hog the comments.
I went to my blog page and entered 5 blogs. 4 out of 5 showed David Foster Wallace. (one was Kurt Vonnegut) That is amazing, to be so consistent... I think. I wish I knew what criteria they use to determine this.
OMG! I put in my Saturday Morning at the Lake blog and I got my favorite author J.R.R. Tolkien. He's the guy who wrote the "Lord of the Rings". I am completely stunned!
I entered a passage from Ernest Hemingway's A Clean, Well-Lighted Place and it came up with Raymond Chandler.
That is pretty funny, Mark. I didn't think to put in something famous or well known. I do wonder what criteria is used for this determination. So.... you didn't share, did you not try any original work?
I got William Gibson.. I copied A Little Boy blog..
kk: My own material was identified with Isaac Asimov.
Thanks for sharing, Mark. I didn't think *anyone* could resist the temptation... although, you must assume it is just all in fun and the accuracy is suspect.
Chuck Palahniuk
I use the text from a letter I sent to Senator Feingold about Nancy Pelosi using military air craft for her personal shit.
I'll have to look up Chuck P. I have no idea who he is.
This is the story I read that prompted me to post this blog: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/17/i-write-like-website-goes_n_650037.html
I forwarded this to one of my fellow teachers who teaches upper-level English. I think this would be a fun activity for her classes... write an essay, submit a few paragraphs and then go learn more about the author. They can then write a paragraph or two on their findings and determine if they agree or disagree with the assessment.
