I was a wee tot in the 60's. No loving and giving for me. I was a teen in the 70's. What the heck were we noted for? We were kind of post baby boom, sometimes referred to as boomlets? (I think) I know what kind of trouble I found in my teen years... but that is not open for public discussion. ;>

Quick, hold the parade and fireworks tomorrow (Saturday) instead of Monday because they're predicting a 50% chance of rain on Monday. Tomorrow's supposed to be perfect.

I see that DogAddicts posted a comment on SER's Eagle tornado blog, but did it as anonymous because she couldn't log in. I feel sorry for her because of her new internet connection.

Poor DA!

I'm off to the parade in Arcadia tomorrow with Biggy D. What a name you gave him, SER!

I graduated from high school in '67,kk. I didn't do anything wild back then...I waited until the 70s to get a bit crazy...I never did go overboard though...just had fun and laughed a lot. Sort of like what I do today!!!!

SER, tell us what were you up to in the 60's?

Orbs, I just saw that your birthday is the 16th. My Dad's would have been 102 on the 16th...celebrate early!

Beejay, I'm honored to share the day with your father.

They say that if you can remember the 60's, you weren't there. I was in high school. I drank then, and experimented with drugs later, some more than others.

I haven't heard that many firecrackers yet this weekend. Of course, it's early, but that activity seems to have died down in the city considerably from a number of years ago. I remember one 4th in the old apartment that was like being under siege in a war zone.

Orbs, last year I had a friend show up who had Post traumatic stress syndrome...no fireworks or not much over here, but going off like crazy at his house. I put him up for the night. I had never seen a reaction before...he wasn't a threat to me, but he was sure shaking.

And, Orbs, I am delighted you share my Dad's birthday...he was a great guy!

I have a friend with PTSD whose company in Viet Nam was repeatedly overrun by the enemy. He was one of only 3 survivors out of a hundred some soldiers. He has a difficult time on the anniversary of that day, though he has gotten much better over the years. He also had/has difficulty with fireworks.

I spoke too soon about the firecrackers/fireworks in my neighborhood. They started popping off last night, around 9 o'clock. Mom hears it in her neighborhood, too, and asked me why they wait until 9. I said it must be because that's when it's dark enough to appreciate the rockets, roman candles, and whatever other missiles they shoot off.

On the 5th, Charlie will hide under the bed when the sirens go off during the pre-parade. I wish there was room to join him. The fireworks are more distant, but he'll hide out for those, too.

[I was about to post this comment when my buddy with PTSD called me. Coincidence? Yesterday I mentioned to mom an old friend she hadn't heard from in awhile. I don't know why, her name popped into my head. Yesterday afternoon, she called mom. Ooooo-weeee-ooooo!]

Woo hooo!! I'm here!! ...for now.

Oh, wait.. it's not the weekend anymore, is it?

Orbs, it is very frustrating with the connection I have. Don't want to do anything long term, because this is just a temporary situation.

Besides, the scenery isn't too bad.

I think I was born on a Wednesday.. I couldn't get on to post on Wednesdays thread!!

ohhh! more fireworks!! :D
