1. Yes, several.

2. a. Tool and Die Making (MATC)
b. Unclaimed (Gateway)
c. Unclaimed (Parkside)
d. Professional and technical Communication (Rochester Institute of Tech)

3. I was a Tool and Die Maker. Unclaimed majors saw me take courses that interested me just for the knowledge. I wanted to enter technical writing as a late life career, but poor health right after graduation squashed that.

4. My employer for the T&D, myself for all unclaimed major courses, a full tuition and expenses scholarship for RIT. (yes I got lucky for the RIT degree).

3. Not any more..did work as sec'y for Gentiles
4. Pell Grant which did NOT have to be paid back.
All this when I was 40 years old!

3. Yep :)

4. That was a combination of my parents, summer jobs, campus jobs and my parents made me take out loans as well. They made me work for it, but also made sure I wasn't too far in debt when I graduated. My parents did an excellent job of balancing how it was paid for.

1. University of Wisconsin when young; Gateway over 20 years later.

2. BA English; no degree from GTC, I took some classes.

3. Never used the English degree professionally; I did landscape work that related to my Gateway classes.

4. My parents kicked in, I held part-time jobs, and I took out loans (that I repaid) for the BA; employer provided funds for the Gateway classes.

Okay orbs, I repaid my loans too.

I only mentioned my undergrad. I had no help from my parents in grad school...I was on my own for it. That is part of the reason I choose a school known for giving generous stipends to the TAs and RAs, 6 credits per term tuition remission (normal load for a grad student in the department was 9 credits) and in state tuition for the rest. I made it through grad school without incurring more debt.

I wasn't implying anything. I remember my then wife and I had a little party after I made my last school loan payment. I currently know a woman in her mid-fifties who still owes thousands on student loans.

I didn't think you were implying anything...trying to (unsuccessfully) make a bad joke about being a liberal who repaid a loan. Have to put some more thought into phrasing next time!

1. Yes, Linköpings Universitet and Linköpings Hälsouniversitet (the U of Linköping and the Medical U of Linköping)

2. No degrees yet, but will soon be done with BA of Science in Nursing.

3. Not employed yet, Just finishing off school and taking care of my girls.

4. Uhh.. well the government does here. Except for a ca 40 dollar fee at the beginning of the semester. oh man.. talk about liberal, school and health care..

All the schooling I received, I payed for in hard earned cash. I worked a few years after high school and bought a house. I realized I wanted more than the crummy job I had, so I went back to school (Parkside) while still working full time. In fact, I am still at it! Talk about doing things the hard way!
