The dog looks like he's just had a romantic encounter!! LOL All he needs is a cigarette! Again LOL Nice out today. Weekly run to IL for 'groceries'. Again LOL
Finally going out tonight to my improv troupe's show. I won't be performing...I am not well enough for that, but I want to be there. We have a special guest tonight: a former Mrs. America will be performing with us tonight...and I hear she's still got it.
Thanks for the well wishes for mom. She's doing okay. Actually, we've been to the Aurora hospital in Kenosha and had problems there, too. I think medical care in this country is in the toilet. There is no continuity of care. She's been in the hospital for 3 days and we've already caught a number of screw-ups. Numerous mistakes occur EVERY time she is in there. She's in the hospital to supposedly get well but we have to be constantly alert to dangers to her from incompetence and/or ignorance. What the hell happens to patients who don't have someone watching out for them? Do they just die? It's insane.
Hale, you're up and about already? How are you healing?
I'm so sorry orbs. It is exactly as I had experienced it. You are correct, the incompetents bury their mistakes.
I can't even count the number of times they tried to double medicate my mom or give her medications that were contraindicated or had severe reactions with other meds she was taking.
As she became sicker and less aware (but still somehow able to sign her consent) it grew to be more and more dangerous. The system needs a total overhaul.
Btw, huck... this also happened at Froedert with my son and at St. Luke's in Milwaukee with my mom.
W-F sucks, but even the best hospitals have severe lapses in judgement and proper care as well.
Orbs, first of all, I hope Mom gets better...my heart goes out to you.
Hospital down here did well by us...while Doug was in there (on and off for six months in ICU)...the staff was beyond great. Now if I could only say the same for the intermediate care floor! I bribed them all accordingly.....warm chocolate chip cookies...ICU got more than one batch, intermediate care, not so much. In fact there was one CNA, I wanted to bop in the head...
I feel for anyone who has no one to protect them while they are hospitalized. I used to show up at 8 a.m. or earlier and stay until around 10 p.m. ICU was really great about letting me in as long as there was 'nothing' going on...I did the same for my Mom....unannounced and beyond scheduled hours.
Today, I had some minor surgery (screw out of the ankle) and it was done at a surgery center. They were great. But then, I was buzzed so what do I know...Biggie D was there to see that the instructions for later care were understood...they put me under...lalalalalalala Anyway, it went fine, great folks. And Mr. D did good as well...LOL....
Not to be disagreeable but I have always had great care at Wheaton. My one teeny problem is when I called to remind them the charges were paid by 'Community Care" and the lady said yes all charity cases are handled that way. Yes I know I am getting 'charity' (on the dole) but to say it in my face hurt just a little. Your mom will do just fine. After all she has you!
I actually have a day off after 9 straight opens, finally feel rested! Happy Friday everybody, hope to see you tomorrow at the picnic!!
ReplyDeleteSigh, another day at the butcher - er, W-F "hospital."

That dog looks very content. Could it be he's getting his belly scratched? Could it be he's getting.......ah.....I don't think I'll go there.
