November 22, 1963 this day in History

Do you remember where you were at when President John F. Kennedy was shot?

  1. I was at home watching Bozo's Circus. I had faked sick and stayed home from school. The news interrupted the broadcast and nothing was ever the same again.

  2. Nope, I was too young to understand.

  3. I was driving home from grocery shopping when it was on the radio in the car. I immediately drove to my dad's house to discuss. Watched every minute of it for 3 days.

  4. I was in German Class in ninth grade. The teacher told us after the class and we were all sent home shortly after that.

  5. I can't remember if it was 3rd or
4th grade, Mrs. Schraders class. I remember her crying and then telling us. I too watched most of it over the next few days.
I bought the book "The Kennedy Detail" which was written by the Secret Service agents on duty that day. Looks to be pretty good.

  6. I was too young to really understand what was happening.
I do remember my oldest sister crying, and I couldn't understand why.

  7. I was in highschool and they told us over the PA system.

Students, teachers, many many people crying.

They did send us home after about and hour and half.

  8. My family followed it on TV, too. I remember the funeral procession, and John-John saluting the casket. Walter Cronkite cried. Everyone was devastated.

And I remember Lee Harvey Oswald getting shot by Jack Ruby, too. Just walked right up to him and plugged him in the gut.
