I was talking with mom this morning and she reminded me that today is Presidents' Day. My thoughts? No mail, no banks, no school. I must admit, it doesn't mean much more to me. Even when we observed Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, I more or less ignored them. I assume that we are supposed to take time today to reflect on the presidency and our presidents. How many of us, other than children in parochial schools, will?
OK, I've reflected on the presidency today because of the blog that hale-bopp posted above this one.
ReplyDeleteA day with no mail. A day there's a skeleton crew at the VA. More bought men than good men.
ReplyDeleteSchool is in session. Nothing means anything, anymore. We no longer respect those who serve our nation in any fashion.
ReplyDeleteI noticed most students in the adjacent classroom didn't even bother to stand for the reciting of the pledge this morning. Happy President's Day.

I had to work today...but we get Rodeo Day off Friday instead of President's Day. Yep, Rodeo Day (and there really is a rodeo in town). I suspect more people will be going to the big PGA Match Play event. Look out ladies, Tiger is in town!
ReplyDeleteGetting Rodeo day off instead of Presidents day reminds me of a town up north that has a Rodeo parade instead of a 4th of July parade..
ReplyDeletePresidents day.. hmm.. to be honest I don't put much thought into it.. of course I just found out it was presidents day.. I suppose it's a lot like other holidays, try to remember and appreciate those that have made the country what it is everyday, not just on a special day.
