Culver's is Coming to Tucson!

Yep, Culver's is opening its first Tucson locations later this year. I always liked them in Wisconsin and hope they are as good here.

I also respect George Culver. He is one of the few Republicans who supported raising the minimum wage when I was there. He walked the walk as well. I believe it was in an interview with him on WUWM where he talked about paying his employees a good wage and treating them well so he didn't constantly lose them to another place paying 10 cents an hour more. It might cost marginally more than other fast food joints, but I always thought the small premium was worth it for the quality of the food and service. Not gourmet or anything, but an important step above the competition.

Better yet, the one on Broadway Place is on my side of town!

I love Culver's, little on the steep side but always good quality.

And they have some great thick malts.

I had no idea there could even be a political affiliation concern when I grab a burger! Has it really gone that far?

I'm all for paying someone decently. In fact, I find it crappy that restaurants pay their help below minimum wage. I'd rather they just include the real cost into the food and forget the presumption of tipping to actually pay the waitress. You could still tip if you felt your service was exceptional.

Thats much like it is here.. Most people do not tip here, but the prices are incredibly expensive. We don't go out to eat often, but when we do I do not mind because I know those waitresses can live off the of their wages.. And you do not have to sit there and figure out how much tip is.. If one does tip it's usually something like 1-2 dollars..

I wouldn't eat a Culver's if I didn't like the food and service, but the fact that they treat their workers well does influence my decision.

I have been told more than once (by both liberals and conservatives) to vote with my dollars when I make my purchases and I do. I can't do it with every product I buy (too many companies to keep track of) but there are plenty of resource on the internet to track political donations of different corporations so you can choose accordingly.

After I posted about why I don't shop at Wal-Mart, one particular moron I was debating on the old JT site told me I was infringing on a corporation's free speech. I wasn't award I HAD to buy stuff from certain companies so they could use my dollars on their political campaigns!

If people were more conscious of where their dollars went, corporations might have to pay a little more attention to their customers in order to keep their shareholders happy. That's not a bad thing.

Plan on standing In line. They have a VERY poor menu board above the ordering counter. People stand forever at the counter trying to decide what they want. They also didn't separate ordering food from ordering custard products. Simple things, but they have never corrected them. It also costs more for fish at Culvers than It does If you go to a sit down restaurant. I no longer do business with them. Even the Home Office In Sauk Prairie WI. ignore complaints.

Hale: They have a store called "The Blue Spoon Cafe" In their hometown of Sauk Prairie, WI and It Is WONDERFUL. The service Is amazing, and they offer great food. Unlike Culver's they offer a higher style menu. Great sandwiches, focaccia type, amazing salads, soups, etc. Plus they serve gelato, and custard. It unfortunately Is the only one in the country, and Craig Culver told me he doesn't plan on opening another. I forgot, they also have beer and wine. In the spring you can also sit outside and watch the Eagles on the Wisconsin River.
