I'm hoping for a better week this week. Last week began with the loss of my big guy Sly Sunday night.
Wednesday morning we got word that a great kid from our church that had recently moved to Arkansas had gotten swept away in a river he was swimming in. After being missing for days, his body was found Saturday night. This was a truly great kid (21) who will be tremendously missed. He will be buried in Arkansas, funeral Tuesday, with a service up here later this week Rest in Peace David, you will be very much missed, what an honor to have known you!
At the risk of being labeled cynical, it is just me or are these corporate Memorial Day messages crossing a line somewhere? "Thanks to those who served, brought to you by (fill in the blank)".
My condolences to everyone who suffered a loss. D/A and Mr. D/A lost Minnie, Sly passed away. Drew had hard choices with Harley. As for the young man in Arkansas, what a tragedy. He must have been a very special kid. Everyone was talking about him and wanted to go help search...
Hale, I don't think it is just you. I get birthday cards from my insurance agent, christmas cards from my dentist and chiropractor. I don't really think they are interesting in wishing me the best on a special day or just being friendly... it is simply business. Advertising is everywhere and it is getting more and more shameless.
I didn't know about Minnie. Omg. I'm so, so sorry you guys.

Ralph Nader says the only way to avoid advertising is to go to sleep, but ads appear in my dreams. I'm thinking of charging for product placements in my dreams.
Product placement can make or break a show. Take Battlestar Galactica. That show was less profitable than shows with comparable ratings and production costs because there really weren't any opportunities for product placement and they didn't have that extra revenue stream.

thanks Orbs, I think this kid touched more peoples lives in his 21 years than many of us do in our entire life, awesome kid
