Soggy bread
Has anyone else noticed store bread is getting soggy? Almost either undone, or extra water to stretch the bread as it's sold by weight. Not talking about the bakery bread but the brand names.
Huck, Your gonna love this. We used to call It "bugger bread" what that meant was you could take a big hunk of bread and by squeezing It, turn It into a bugger. In those day's we got all of our regular bread at the Pig. and It was made by Kappus Bakery on 16th st. We got our GOOD bread from Taylor Ave. Bakery. We also got all of our sweet rolls there. You will find that Sara Lee Is making lots of the bread these day's.
The solution... toast. Taylor Ave bakery made the best sweet rolls. Larsen's, the best Almond Kringle. There was also a bakery on Durand that had good stuff. I find that O&H bread is too dry. Never been a fan of the cheap Wonder bread type.
I have a recipe for beer bread that is good and so easy! it is basically flour, salt, a bit of sugar, baking powder and one beer. It is more like a quick bread. Have to make some again soon. Unfortunately, I could live on bread and potatoes.
I just saw a Facebook yesterday, that Campbell's Soup has changed the size of their can's of condensed soup's? I don't buy a lot of condensed soup's, but I can't imagine them doing that.

Just like everything else, the size shrinks and the price goes up... go figure.

Toad, now that would screw-up all of my recipes. lol
I buy Cardinali's Italian bread, the sliced kind, in a plastic wrapper. Made in Kenosha. It tastes great, and freezes and thaws very well.
I think I know what you mean about that doughy bread, though. I've had Wonder Bread and others like that.
