Am I The Only One Watching the Women's World Cup?!?

Yep, even at work I can have a window open showing the ESPN 3 feed when I am not home (although the feed of the U.S. game was intermittent so I must not be the only one watching it). Right now France is up on Canada 3-0 with about 15 minutes to go.

Every school I have taught at, soccer was the big sport (none of them had football teams) and all the school have had pretty good soccer teams. I have several former students who went on to professional careers (most successful one was on the Canadian National men's team for a while) and have always loved the game. I went to a lot of Mutiny games when they were in Tampa. One of the real highlights in Florida was in '96 when many of the women's Olypmic teams were training in Bradenton. They played several friendly matches that were free and open to the public to attend at a local field. There were no stands, bring your own chairs/blankets. This was world class international soccer and I had seats that were better than the front row...heck, you were sitting mere feet from the sidelines. It was more like sitting on the player's bench than in the stands. To be that close to world class players is something else.

The U.S. is ranked number 1 in the world, but a lot of soccer fans think they are overrated. I want to see them bring the cup back home to the U.S. for the first time since '99.

ESPN 8? I know there is ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU and ESPN Classic...you mean I am missing at least three ESPN's? That's it...I am calling my cable company!

They could take all those espn channels from me and give me the $ difference. Does that answer your question???

I've been reading and farming to waste away my summer free time. Do you have a CLICK to help me raise that dairy barn, hale? :o lol

Mom is upset because they have preempted her soap opera for tennis two days in a row.

Not actually Hale. The California U.S.A. stadium Is filled with something near 95% Mexicans isn't It? I read the number the other night for the U.S.A. and Mexico match, and couldn't believe It. LOL. Who wants to get killed over a game?

I don't think it was quite 95% Toad, but soccer games in the Rose Bowl are definitely not considered home games for the U.S. when playing Mexico. The U.S. frequently schedules U.S. Mexico World Cup qualifying games in places like Columbus, OH (which has a very nice soccer stadium and a strong American fan base) to try and make it a little more like a home game.

Orbs... and the problem is?

Hale, I tried to verify the account, but couldn't find It. Whatever It was It was a very large number. I did see the North Koreans girls got hit by lightening on June 8th, and thus lost to the U.S.A. Yup, even the goalie

hale-bopp said...

Yeah, that lightning thing is just weird. North Korea is very secretive in soccer just like everything else so details are sketchy. It is possible for a nearby lightning strike to travel through the ground and affect many people.

jedwis, the problem is that you don't want to upset mom, ever. She's ninety, I'll be 60 soon, and she's still "mom." You can divorce your spouse, but your parents are your parents forever.
