I am not a avid fan of country music. I particularly dislike today's "country" I swear ANYONE can be a country star. For goodness sakes. Robin Meade from CNN Headline News in the morning just released a CD. I must say I thought Mr. Coe's song was pretty neat, with a great subject. After all, I guess he wrote "Take this job and shove It" and who doesn't like that one? I certainly would join him In his agony of not being recognized.
Toad, I am shocked that you've never heard this song. if it's on a Juke Box and it's played, two things happen. Most of the guys start singing it, and most of the women GROAN. For some reason many women can't stand the song.
I have to correct you on that one Huck. Maybe it's a southern thing but when I was doing the bar scene and this song came on, we all sang with it. It's a great country song thats for sure. Thanks for posting it.
I've heard both songs before. My mom was a big country fan. I am not. I never knew the meaning behind the "darling" song. It sucks to be the person overlooked and not appreciated for all that they do.

I like the song from Hee-Haw and the David Allan Coe song.
I don't listen to current music so I don't know what the genres are like.

Huck, It's the age thing again. I don't go out anymore. I did hear that cassettes are going to make a comeback.
