So far the votes are an overwhelming, "yes, they should be allowed." I agree. I agree it would look better without, but then improve the crime rate, and the bars can be removed. A business owner should have the right to feel safe while operating and somewhat confident their business is secure when they leave.
Just so you all know... the Journal Times was ALL OVER SER's blog; the one with the pictures of barbed wire fencing. The JTI voice is not as small as you might think.
Teach the JT to treat us like second class citizens! We carry weight!
And, I agree. Bars are necessary in that area to prevent crime. Unfortunate, but necessary. You can't just wish this problem away...it is a definite concern for all the business owners in that area.
Yeah, but "the rules" say otherwise. Of course, those rules were written by people who have never lived in the inner city. The elite make the rules for the elite, not for us.
As of 9am Sunday 71% say yes to the bars on the JT Pole.

In that city. Funeral Homes should have bars on the windows.
Toad.. reminds me of the joke, Why do cemeteries have fences? Because people are just dying to get in. (Boo, hiss....)
kkdither, We were driving through Steven's Point probably 15 years ago, and had my elderly MIL with. When we drove past the cemetery, she said, (out of the blue) "No one living In Steven's Point can be buried In that cemetery" and proceeded to laugh intensely. Of course someone else had to explain It to me.
