Early Labor Day Musical Double Feature

In a recent blog, Toad and I were commenting on the good old days when bands like Chicago and Blood, Sweat, and Tears ruled. Today, I heard this song on the radio. I cranked it as loud as I could stand it. It was a classic when I first heard it and it's still a classic today. Chicago - "25 or 6 to 4"

And this one has been in my head for a couple of days now, but I couldn't remember much more than the title refrain. Then I looked it up on YouTube, and, SER, it has finally displaced "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport" as the song du jour rattling around in my brain. Warren Zevon - "Lawyers, Guns, and Money"

Since the shit has hit the fan... maybe Werewolves of London would offer better protection than Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Good tune Orb's. Did you notice, he seemed to really be into that song. At the end, he didn't really respond to the applause. I thinking a genuine statement?

Orb's, WOW, I must admit, I have not listened to 25 or 6 to 4 In quite awhile. I put headphones on for this one. I forgot how amazing It was. THANKS.

Back In the early 70s I tended bar at a club that was In the back of that big building next to the old J.C. Penney store downtown Racine. It was called Counselors II. We had a band that played pretty regularly called "Seven card stud" from Milwaukee. They had a unbelievable horn line, and an old organ with a Leslie, and a great singer. They played Chicago's "Beginnings" and went directly into "I'm a man" without interruption. It was the most incredible rendition I ever heard. BTW. I forgot just how good Terry Kath was.

That guitar solo is fantastic.

kk, I don't have lawyers, guns, or money - just a psychiatrist and the truth.

I'm not a huge of Chicago, but I LOVE "25 or 6 to 4".

The Warren Zevon's teaming up with the members of R.E.M. in the Hindu Love Gods is excellent!

Chicago's "Color My World" is the best!

Back in the late 60' Chicago and REO Speedwagon use to play in downtown Racine all time, before they hit it really big.

I did a post on Chicago and found out the song 25 or 6 to 4 is about writing a song 25 or 26 minutes to 4 in the morning. I could not believe that when I was reading about it. That is one of my favorite songs by them.

SER, really? I didn't know that either band ever played here. I went to the Nitty Gritty a few times. And they had a dance "club" at the Y, can't remember the name.
