WITI-TV, RACINE —
"The Racine Post Office will honor the Racine Fire Department and the memory of 911 by issuing a unique pictorial cancellation on the ten-year anniversary of 9-11.
"The special pictue postmark would normally be available in the West Racine Post Office (1300 Perry Avenue) on the day of the event. However 9-11 falls on a Sunday this year and the West Racine Post Office will not be open. Consequently, Saturday, September 10th has been selected as the date the cancellation will be available."
I'm going to address myself an envelope and mail it to me so I can get one.
ReplyDeleteThe dummy's can cancel It any day they want. They could cancel Saturday's mail for Sunday. Who would care?
ReplyDeleteWith all the trouble the postal service is having financially, and the threat of location closure and further job loss, I find it somewhat irresponsible that they are spending time and money on something that is superfluous.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that reflecting on the horrible attack is wrong, but when you are down and out, and fighting for existence, doing anything not solidly necessary is poor business practice.
Then again, maybe there will be more people like sassa, who add to their business and profit margin by purposely sending something extra.
KKdither, Millions If not Billions, of dollars of postage stamps go unused every year, due to collectors, and just plain forgetting you have them etc. I still think the FREE boxes are insane.
ReplyDeleteI was just reading that the Post Office on Perry Ave. had someone on duty to Post Mark today's date 9.11.11 on mail, and will offer It for 30 days. What a GOOD idea. Nobody wants 9.10.11
