Yes I know this is early. I will not be around for weekend to post this.
My boyfriend and I are going away for the weekend so I just figured I would get this post out now.
When I was young I remember my mom telling me the day before Halloween they would go on one side of the railroad tracks to see if they could get candy. Then on Halloween they would go on her side of the railroad tracks. This is down in Illinois. They did get the candy the day before Halloween. I didn't think they would get the candy.
I also remember taking my kids trick or treating the different costumes I would get them. There was a couple of them that I did put together for them. I really enjoyed taking my kids out trick or treating because I had just as much fun with the kids as they did.
The only thing I don't like about Halloween is how the older kids think it is funny scaring the little kids. Yes I can see how some of them like to do it but I remember how much it hurt my youngest daughter. My son did it to my youngest daughter and I spend some endless nights up with her.
I think carving the pumpkins with the kids is so much fun. My kids made some really neat ones. I also remember taking my son to a haunted house and he was so scared. I also like some of the music that they have out for Halloween and there are also some really good scary movies to watch.
Some people have Halloween parties that you can go to so that the adults can dress up too. But to me Halloween is for the kids and I don't dress up.
I am going to leave you with one of my favorite Halloween videos. I would like to hear what you like about Halloween!♥

Great video THB. I love it.
I think I loved everything bout Halloween as a kid. Going door to door for the candy was fun, and yet spooky in the dark. As I said in another blog, it was a safer world for kids back then. We trick or treated at night. I did not like the popcorn balls that I occasionally received, or candy corn, or circus peanuts. Everything else was devoured.
As an adult, I guess I must like Halloween because my apartment is decorated and lit up for no one but Charlie and me. I think I just like the idea of doing it this time of year to combat the depression of the approaching winter. That's why I like to decorate for Christmas, too - to try to keep the blahs and blues at bay.
No kids come to the apt building for treats, so I don't buy any. I'd probably just eat it all , anyway.
I remember my mother dressing me up as a lion one year-complete with painted on whiskers and a hand made costume. Went out at night to go trick or treating...Come home with a bag full of good stuff including popcorn balls.
Because of all the weirdos out there, Halloween sure has changed over the years. Treating or treating during day light hours and store bought costumes (which I never really cared for)took some of the fun out of the festivities.
Orbs I would have my Halloween decorations up but they are in my storage shed up north. I like to decorate the house up for the holidays. When I was younger my dad would go through my bag and take out what he wanted then gave the rest to us kids.
Drew I agree with you about the weirdos out there these days. They do take the fun out of Halloween for the kids now and the store bought costumes.
I never had store bought costumes, but one year I had a store bought black bandit mask, like the Lone Ranger - that's probably who I was portraying. A piece of thread from one of the eye holes became lodged in my eye and my mother couldn't get it out. We had to go to the eye doctor the next day to have it removed.
I like holiday lights of any kind. Again, I think it's to compensate for the short, dreary days and long nights.
