I remember being taught that the US was the best country of the world, we are sooo lucky to be born here.. We can basically do no wrong be cause we were Americans.. I've learned so much living here, seeing the world in a whole new light.. sitting side by side with those from France, Germany, China, Afghanistan and Iraq among many more.. Having conversations with them about their homes.. Really makes you realize that we in the US really don't have it all figured out just because of our past accomplishments.. I am grateful for this opportunity to look at home from the outside.
Toad, I guess I mean no one has it all figured out.. I mean I like both places very much and each place has positives and negatives.. I do think many Americans will just roll their eyes when one brings up how they do things in another country without trying to learn from them.. I've heard many times well if you like it so much there then move there (where ever that may be).. We live in a great big world and there are so many ideas out there and we would be a fool not to learn from one another.. But to many they dont want to listen because those other countries couldnt possibly be right because they are not America and we are so much better and don't need to listen..
I do plan on moving back to the States, but that is more because I have had enough of being so far away from my family.. It's hard being so far away from your support system.. I do however second guess my decision on that when I see how bad the economy is and how bad Racine is right now, how bad politics are right now... I do have hopes that things will turn around and I will wait until it does..I also second guess my decision because we would be giving up the universal health care which I like very much and many other things that makes raising a family easier like 480 days paid maternity/paternity leave..
As for if we have the rights we were given under the constitution I cannot answer.. that is too big of a question for me to answer.. Up to interpretation.. Some say that the new CC law is bringing out rights to bare arms to light.. I question who said firearms are the the arms they are talking about.. where does that end, how big and bad can those arms be??
I think anytime you begin to think you are better, there is a problem.
I have pride that I have lasted this long in Racine. Isn't pride in your city, or sports team for that matter, just saying that you support it, you love it.... you haven't abdicated?

Tribalism. It was necessary to survive for early man. I believe it's hardwired into us.

Very well put, Why Not.
Why Not, Does that mean your happy In Sweden, or does It mean you would much rather be here?
Also does It mean you like our systems, or are happier with those In Sweden?
Do you think we have the rights we were given under the Constitution?
