Santa's Chalet
A while back I posted pictures of the Chalet not meeting the "color scheme" of West Racine. I also mentioned there was nothing but junk sitting inside of it.
Well wouldn't ya know Santa is going to show up this year and use the Chalet so I guess I have to eat a little crow. NOT!!!
I didn't think they still did that. I assume West Racine businesses are paying for it. It's a nice gesture and it brings people to their area. Nelson's is probably jammed with Christmas stuff.
This last summer they had a big ribbon cutting ceremony.. They had a Santa all dressed up and handed out Christmas cookies.. I do believe Ray from Copy Cat Music (a neighbor to my parents) is quite instrumental is most things that happen, although I'm sure he's not the only one. I remember going to the Chalet as a kid and I'm glad to see it back and working.. It's nice to see someone caring and trying to do positives for their community..
Back in the stone age, they did this downtown on Monument Square. One of my sister's friends once played Santa there.
While living in Chicago, I drunkenly had my picture taken while sitting on Santa's lap at Burger King. (I also grabbed one of the microphones that they called the orders in on and started singing "Strangers in the Night.")

I tried sitting on Santa's lap last year. Never again.
Wow...Where can I apply for a Santa job?
