"RACINE - A proposal to review vacant high-paying city positions in hopes of finding cost-saving opportunities failed to move past the Finance and Personnel Committee on Monday.
"Under the proposal, any position vacant due to retirement or resignation that typically pays more than $100,000 in salary and benefits would be reviewed by the committee and City Council before any hire, said Alderman Eric Marcus, who proposed the idea."
Haw, haw, haw. There is NO way the pork in Racine will ever be trimmed as long as the recipients of the pork are in charge of its distribution. Citizens: shut up, fix your sidewalks, and pay for lying John's lawyers. Happy Holidays, Racine!

I can't even read the article... swine beget swine.
The "savings" that Unified claimed in "trimming" Central Office jobs was nothing more than bullshit. They "forgot" to file the correct paperwork. Everyone who "lost" their positions at the upper levels, went on to different jobs at the same rate of pay. NO SAVINGS to the taxpayer.
Now... how do they correct this in their budget? They lay off the underlings and leave the children in the lurch.
I'm so fed up with those who believe they are above the system or beyond reproach.
combine positions, there’s a good idea
micromanaging, this is a bunch of BS, just an excuse
interferes with human resources duties, are they to damn lazy to do there job?
and is time-consuming, It’s a one shot deal, split the jobs up between 2 and 3 people, tell them these are you added responsibilities and if they can’t handle them, we’ll get someone who can...simple!
the committee unanimously voted to receive and file the proposal in their meeting at City Hall, 730 Washington Ave. Sure don’t want to step on anyone’s toes so we’ll just “table” the matter for a few years........
Of course it's BS. It never ends. Sometimes it's more galling than others. I credit Ald. Marcus for his tenacity. (Uh-oh, does that make me part of the "conspiracy'?) If he keeps it up, they'll crucify him.
