The Sun put out a pretty big flare and CME yesterday which has been hitting Earth this morning. Tonight is a good chance to see aurora. The weather in Racine looks partly cloudy for tonight, so you have a shot.
The most common colors of aurora are green (electrons recombining with oxygen) and red (nitrogen). Other colors can be seen occasionally from different energy level transitions.
Don't give up just because you live in Racine. I saw them from Aurora, Illinois (no, really, that is the name of the city where I lived! Look it up!) just outside Chicago so a big storm can punch through and this is a pretty good storm. Of course, aurora are finicky so no guarantees! I am not anticipating anything in Arizona!
Here is one of my aurora pics from Acadia National Park last September just to get you primed.
UPDATE: The most recent forecast is for aurora low on the horizon from Chicago so you got a chance. See the aurora forecast for updates.

Yes Hale, there is an Aurora, IL. I used to have clients all around that area. Have you ever been on Ogden Ave( RT 34) heading west? You travel thru 3 towns in a row... Plano/Bologna/Sandwich. lol, no kidding.
I'd love to see these. Vince Condella reported the potential for these last night. I was under the impression that last night was more of a chance than tonight? He also said that the real chance is about 25% of seeing them here.... We are pretty far south, who would'a thunk?
Current data shows low level activity extends to southern Illinois so it's worth a shot.
I've never seen them. It's hard for me to get away from light where I live.
A friend told me he saw these in Racine last year and was amazed. He called up a number of people at 2 AM to tell them to go out and take a look.
