Lithuania is one of the three Baltic States, on the Baltic Sea near Finland and Sweden. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia were free before WWII. During the war, the Nazis took over the countries. The Soviets drove the Nazis out, but then they stayed. The countries were finally freed again after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, although a ton of Russians still live in the countries. My parents left Latvia because they didn't want to live under communism. When I read the comments in the Journal Times about socialism and the like, I laugh to myself. People in this country are so spoiled, so ignorant, and so proud of their ignorance. We'd be pushovers for an invasion and we would deserve it because we are fat and corrupt.
I've been to Latvia once, Just for a short visit.. but their sense of humor was very strange. I saw a restaurant there that had the theme of an old hospital. They had gynecological stirrups on the tables where you sat, different scary contraptions around as decorations. One of the scariest restaurants I have seen in my life. I wish I took pictures of it but I was so disturbed by everything inside that I had to leave very quickly. There were very many hints of how strange the Latvian sense of humor is..
Here is a link, it looks like it was freshened up a bit or it was that I saw it on off hours so they didnt have it so well lit.. still find it disturbing..

I don't know. I found myself giggling in some places and fairly disgusted in others. Maybe it was nervous giggling? ;>

I looked at your link. Very weird. The stirrups would have had me walking out, too. Eeeek.
Without a doubt, one of the strangest restaurants ever.
See, I can't help myself. I'm half Latvian and Lithuanian; ergo, I'm half crazy. The other half (Russian) is mad.
