I have a friend who believes in Climate Change - and this is what he says:
"I expect when the arctic becomes ice-free in the summer the 100+ degree heat waves will be time-extensive and widespread from April until October from the Gulf of Mexico to Hudson Bay. It is the temperature gradient between latitudes that drives weather patterns: gradient flattening is self-reinforcing (like so many other post-industrial dynamics).
Look for:
– Continental water shortages/deficits (with periodic floods and ‘super-deluge’ events).
– Desertification particularly in areas now fertile/productive: US South and Southeast, Midwest into Canada.
– Mega-droughts and loss of forest cover in the far West.
– Biodiversity decline
– Peatland/boreal forest fires, massive jump in atmospheric methane.
– Accelerated ice-melt in Greenland (and Antarctica).
These are all underway right now. No need to make predictions.
Ok I just typed a new comment (rather long) and the next screen wants me to sign up to blog on Google. I DON"T WANT to 'blog', just comment, and I DON'T WANT Google. Is this a trick? Ok I just saw 'choose identy'. Duh!
Another hot one today. Now the weather guys are saying 99 for tomorrow. Grrrr. They were saying the heat would break at 10pm tonight. I'm feeling housebound!

According to Weather Underground, we hit 104. The same is predicted for Thursday. :-(
I don't know how all those people could sit on the lake front and wait for the fireworks in that heat.

Did anonymous make a comment? I missed something. That's OK, he who laughs last...thinks slowest.
