I hope everyone has a P & P day. Did you all know I won Bedtime games last week? I'm still celebrating. I have always found that nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool. Don't ask me how I know. lol

"O" Mary, I see the lightposts are melting In OK. City. Amazing. I TRULY feel bad for you, and the Old Fisherman. Are the fish coming out cooked?

Toad - at 111 yesterday it is officially too hot to fish. BTW, I noticed on the news last night with the drought up there, a lot of fish are dying. Water is too hot.
Plus the lakes around here are down and pretty soon you won't be able to launch a boat. It's so hot Harley was doing a little dance in the backyard yesterday and then I realized his paws were burning. And the bees and the dragonflies love it when I water - they all fly around me and go into the spray. Kind of neat actually. At least 10 more days of this crap. Oh well.

"O" Mary, I'll bet my cousins landscaping business In Mustang Is going great guns. LOL Maybe they switched to selling green spraypaint? Have you tried cooking an egg on the car yet? I always wanted to try that. We had the annual city wide get rid of your shit sale this weekend. I got a Hamilton Mantel Clock for my 35 year anniversary at Jacobsen Textron In Racine for $2.00. Problem Is I never worked there, but It's a nice clock. Two great big Mexican Belt Buckles (Silver) with inlay for a buck. Must be a half pound of silver. 5 really nice Flute Music Books. Can't play the flute, but they are nice books. 3 Little Indian Dolls with Porcelion (sic) heads. Really neat. A buck a piece. OH BTW, my wife plays the flute. BUT the best thing Is a PIGEON timing clock. Made In Germany. Really neat. Has 16 little pockets to put the rubber leg bands In when the bird comes back, and keeps track of each birds time on paper to see which bird won. Circa maybe 1920 Very Unusual. $5.00 I had no idea what It was, but couldn't pass It up. Did you know Pigeon tastes like chicken? Anyhow It was a fun day. I think you should go stand out In the sprinkler, just for fun.

I just calculated the AVERAGE OVER ASSESSMENT OF HOMES IN RACINE, below is what I discovered:

Property Values, Assessed Values and The City of Racine. Should you be concerned?

"RACINE — The City of Racine has been awarded $120,000 to demolish nine blighted residential properties, Gov. Scott Walker’s office announced Wednesday.

The homes set to be demolished were chosen because they are foreclosures in tax delinquency. They also are vacant or significantly deteriorated and are in areas the city has targeted for redevelopment, O’Connell said.

The homes pose problems because they discourage neighbors from fixing up their own properties, lower the appeal of a neighborhood and continue to deteriorate over time, O’Connell said."

Racine to tear down blighted homes.

Ok I thought - SO - What is a blighted home that is deteriorated beyond the point of rehabilitation and scheduled for demolition worth?

Each home will be listed by address, then the 2012 assessed value given. I will then add all the assessed values together, divide by the number of properties (9) to establish what I call the "AVERAGE OVER ASSESSMENT OF PROPERTY VALUE IN THE CITY OF RACINE".

617 8th St. 2012 Assessed Value: $73,000
1310 11th St. 2012 Assessed Value: $41,000
510 15th St. 2012 Assessed Value: $41,000
1804 Franklin St. 2012 Assessed Value: $62,000
1809 Franklin St. 2012 Assessed Value: $84,000
1801 Grand Ave. 2012 Assessed Value: $70,000
1308 Howe St. 2012 Assessed Value: $35,000
713 9th St. 2012 Assessed Value: $40,000
1606 Villa St. 2012 Assessed Value: $71,000
TOTAL VALUE: $517,000
divide by 9 properties = $57,444

AVERAGE OVER ASSESSMENT OF HOME IN RACINE = $57,000 (rounded)

“There are just some houses that are so bad that you really can’t do anything with them and even developers don’t want to develop them because there’s so much work to it,” Racine Mayor John Dickert said.

If you are a resident of Racine - you need to have your home REALISTICALLY assessed - and have your property record updated. You will need to challenge the current over assessment by the City - the process is detailed on the City of Racine site - and begin NOW! Get together with your neighbors and also call your Alderman - working as a group will help to ensure success in getting the correction to your over assessment made. You WILL save hundreds, and some will save $1,000 or more! With another huge tax increase slated for 2013 you cannot afford to let the City of Racine gouge you again!
