It certainly seems feasable, but the driver taking control, Is only as good as his/her paying attention. For me, cruise control Is plenty. I wonder how the vehicle reacts to a car with a driver? The car with the driver Is capable of doing just about anything. How will the driverless car predict what Is going to happen?
So there would be no more DUI penalties? Does Ethanol count?
Seriously, this would be neat if it really worked. I'm a very good driver, but you never know what some other idiot is going to do. On my way home from work on Friday, someone dodged between traffic from a side street into my lane. Evidently, someone who was stopped, "waved" this guy out into the active lane. I almost T-Boned the guy. Never saw him until he was crossing my lane directly in front of me. Good thing I immediately jammed on the brake. My neck and shoulders are still hurting from reacting.

I told Gary that possibly in our lifetime there would be cars that would drive themselves. Could be interesting.
If one of those is on autopilot and causes an accident, whose fault is it, the "driver" or the car?
Orb's, That's a very good question. You may have thought of something the automakers never thought of? Liability.
