Halloween Sunset

I haven't posted in a while and am going to try and get back into it. I have been posting lots of pics on my twitter feed and google+ account, both of which are good places to keep track of my latest.
However, tonight's Halloween sunset was particularly good. I wasn't even sure I would get anything since there were lots of clouds. However, the Sun is setting just north of Kitt Peak and I wanted to get that shot (I really hope to get it RIGHT behind Kitt Peak in a few days!) I was fortunate tonight and the sky was clear in the direction of Kitt Peak...at least clear near the horizon. Enjoy these shots...click to enlarge them.

Spectacular photos, hale. The orange sky and sun with the dark earth are perfect Halloween colors. You even got a green flash. Does it turn blue at the end?

Wow. Thanks Hale. We did get to see the space station go by the last few nights and it was very bright and always great to see.

Good eye, Orbs. I thought there was a subtle hint of blue in that last one but it is not very prominent (I have gotten more distinct blue in the past). Blue flashes are more rare than green as our atmosphere tends to scatter blue light more than green light. In theory, every green flash is followed by a blue (and even a purple) flash. I have never visually seen a blue or purple flash but occasionally get photos of them.
