Sorry, gotta get this off my chest

Two things.  First, wtf with the city contracts with its workers?   http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/three-unions-file-lawsuit-against-city/article_e46f5492-d1d8-11e1-bdc4-001a4bcf887a.html

I remember many people saying that we should wait until we knew what budget cuts were coming from the state before we sign any contracts.  Dickert, Tom , and most of the City Council ignored reality and signed the contracts anyway.  Now they intend to just break the contracts.  They do it knowing that the unions will sue and add to the city's already outrageous legal tab.

Worst. Mayor. Ever.

Second, why are prosecutors plea bargaining with a monster who admitted killing a two-year-old by body slamming her a dozen times? http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/plea-agreement-apparently-being-discussed-in-toddler-s-death/article_f5676f22-d2d3-11e1-93aa-001a4bcf887a.html

I've said it many times: children are disposable in Racine.  The city's criminal "justice" system shows a deep disdain for children.  Baby killers walk our streets again after only a couple of years in prison.

I know why we are plea bargaining with this monster.  Money.  That's the reason behind most plea bargaining.  It's cheaper than a trial.  Find out the cost of a murder trial in Racine.  Subtract from that the cost of plea bargaining.  The difference is the price of a child's life in Racine.

Four for Fridays

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Four for Fridays after a seemingly short week. Sorry a little late in posting this, I was up late working on a project for Facebook. Anyways, here are some questions for you...

1) How do get your movies you watch? HBO, rent, Netflix or whatever?

2) What's the strangest talent you have?

3) When you start a project, do you finish it right away or take breaks and possibly never finish it?

4) At what age did you become an adult?

Enjoy your weekend!

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my hot muffins.  How are you?  I think we set another record for heat today. Oh boy.  These are not the kind of records we should be setting.  How about setting a record for the most temperate days in a row?  Or a record for the most perfect rainfall for a summer?  There are all kinds of records, but we should seek to set only positive ones.  I really do not want to know how hot it can get.  Anything above 90 is hot to me.  Throw in heavy humidity and even the 80’s get uncomfortable.  Let us all set our minds on one task: better weather.  Repeat after me, “better weather, better weather, better weather,” and so on until the weather gets better.  Visualize it, seek it, own it.  Together we can do anything.

We had an electrical problem at the house today, one of the hottest days of the year.  In his room, Junior had everything electrical plugged in: window air conditioner, TV, stereo, two computers, etc.  Then he plugged in the amp for his guitar. It played for awhile, but then Junior smelled smoke, and it wasn’t from his finger picking.  Unbeknownst to us, Junior had long ago grown tired of blowing and replacing the fuses for his bedroom. (It’s an old house.) Junior decided to put a nickel in the socket the last time he replaced a fuse.  That “took care” of the fuses blowing.  So the juice kept flowing and flowing to Junior’s room until some wiring ignited near the electrical box.  That took out power to the entire house.  Junior quickly found the source of the smoke and put out the fire with an extinguisher rated for electrical fires.  Junior remembered that you never put water on an electrical fire.  I’m so proud of him, but I am so ticked off at him for almost burning the house down.

We (Señor Zanza, Junior, and I) are temporarily staying with the Señor’s mother and sister, Momma Zanza and Lady Zanza, respectively.  It is very gracious of them to put us up.  Hopefully our house can be repaired within a couple of days.  I know that Momma and Lady Zanza don’t read my blog, because they told me they never heard of it.  To be blunt, I hate it here.  Three strong-willed women in a small house does not work.  I don’t know how they do it with two, but that is a mother/child thing.  If they don’t have the house fixed soon, we’re gong to a hotel.  Thus spake Madame Zoltar!

As usual in the summer in Racine, the area is bustling with events and activities.  The big one at the moment is Salmon-A-Rama, http://www.salmon-a-rama.com/  I know there is a flow, a gush, of other events.  Check all the online Racine news sources to discover everything that is happening.  Ask friends and neighbors, too, what’s going on and what they recommend.  Sometimes you will find the perfect event for you.

As a public service, here is a video entitled “The Dangers of Hot Weather.”

Thank you, all my hot toddies, for visiting with me today.  We’re supposed to be cooler than the last few days, but then more heat is on the way, or so “they” say.  I appreciate you stopping by to read my blog.  Take a break, sit down, and drink some lemonade as you read.

When will Quill the Eskimo get here?  Find out: madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com.

Please take care of yourselves in the heat.  As we get older, out bodies cannot tolerate as much stress as they used to.  Take it easy.  Drink plenty of fluids. (Beer doesn’t count.) Set up the sprinkler and run through it.  It does wonders.  Diaskeuasis!

Dear Madame Zoltar - Can I Trust These Guys?

Astrology.com emailed me birthday greetings.  They're also offering some specials. ("More birthday gifts for you.")

The email shows a cupcake I'm supposed to click on to claim my gift.  "We've wrapped a special Full-Length Solar Return Birthday Reading (a $14.95 value!), exclusively for you!"

That sounds like a prety good deal.  They knew about my birthday, so I think I can trust them.  Should I click on the cupcake or not?

Linda Ronstadt - "Long, Long Time"

Another one that has been stuck in my heed. At least it's pretty.

Useless Information

In the early 1900’s Henry Ford owned a sawmill producing parts for his Model A. Ford hated waste so he and a friend started manufacturing “Ford Charcoal Briquets”. For many years, Ford Charcoal Briquets could be purchased only at Ford automobile showrooms around the country.

In 1951 The Ford Motor Company closed the sawmill and chemical plant and the plant was sold to a group of local investors. They renamed the new company Kingsford Chemical Company. E.G. Kingsford was Ford’s original partner producing the briquets. The new group sold the briquets as "Kingsford Charcoal Briquets".

And the rest is history.........
