"It’s official…We Are Racine has a website"

From RacineUncovered.org:

"It’s official… We Are Racine has a website.

WE ARE RACINE

"We felt as a group it would be beneficial to have a website designed specifically for volunteers, the community, events and other organizations (COP Houses). This website is just up and running, it’s a combination of a website and social media site. Volunteers are able to have email accounts, messaging, forums and more! We felt it was an easier way to communicate with everyone in the community about what’s going on in Racine and how we are making changes and how YOU can get involved. We Are Racine is also looking into becoming an official non-profit to help extend more help into the community and to the residents

"We are still adding to the site and will be partnering with more organizations now and in the future and adding their information. We will be installing calendars and other helpful items."

We Are Racine is now linked in our sidebar under Local & Area Blogs. God bless Beth and all the other volunteers.

Four for Fridays

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Four for Fridays after an exhausting week. Too much work and not enough time... At least I get tomorrow off. Anyways, here are some questions for you...

1) Do you have a bird feeder in your yard?

2) What services do you leave a tip for?

3)  Do fences make better neighbors?

4)  What makes a person a hero?

Enjoy your weekend!

That Time of the Year with Fall Colors!

Yes it is that time of the year again when the weather starts to get colder and the trees start to change. The colors of the tree are so beautiful this time of the year. This picture above is taken at the University of Whitewater College this past weekend when we went to pick my daughter up for the weekend. I noticed when we left here and on the way out to the college the colors on the trees are a lot lighter toward the college.

This picture was taken at the University of Whitewater College on are way home. I could not pass this one up because of how bright the colors are on the tree. My daughter thinks I am crazy for stopping and taking these pictures.

This picture of the Pine Tree was taken at Smolenski Park here in Racine Wi.. I couldn't believe that the Pine Tree was starting to turn yellow already. I just thought I would share this one with you.

I seen this tree at Smolenski Park here in Racine Wi. also. I just loved the way you see the red and green together. When I seen this I had to take the picture. I think this is just so beautiful the way it is changing it's colors.

This picture was taken by the Racine Airport. I seen this on the way home from work and then I went home and got the camera and came back to get the picture. This is so pretty with all the different colors. I was on my way to pick Drew up from work too.

This picture I stopped on the side of 4mile rd in Racine Wi to take this picture on my way to pick Drew up from work. I seen how the colors are changing and I wanted the picture.

I hope everyone enjoys these pictures because this is only the beginning for the fall colors and only the beginning for my to post the fall pictures as I get them!

Farm Cop

http://www.break.com/pictures/russia-farm-cop-2375118

Ferreting out crime in the farms and fields every day, Farm Cop keeps society safe from rural gang bangers and mad cows.

Health and Safety course

Gladys failed the Health and Safety course at the Senior Center today.

One of the questions was:
"In the event of a fire, what steps would you take?"

"F***ing' big ones" was apparently the wrong answer.

Smudge Pots

Do you know what a “smudge pot is?”

Take a large juice can and punch some holes in around the “side” bottom of the can; the old style “Church Key” works great. Then make a handle out of a coat hanger.

Now take a bunch of leaves out of the gutter and fill the can; light the leaves of fire through one of the holes in the side and begin to swing the can around and around,

The leaves will start to burn and smoke heavily, stop and fill the can again. Just keep up these steps until the whole street is filled with smoke.

But be advised, someone will call the cops on you!  But it’s well worth it as long as you can run and hide.

Poem

The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my October octopi!  How are you?  Fall continues to fall.  I was leaving a store last week and the trees in front were dropping leaves like rain in the brisk wind.  There is already much color in Racine.  Many trees and shrubs are turning.  It is the time of year when you can see why certain euonymus shrubs are called burning bushes.  The bright scarlet is gorgeous.  So much is going on in the landscape, but so slowly that it is difficult to appreciate it all.  Fall is the time of year for walks.  Get out and enjoy.

Our splendiferous and awesome Green Bay Packers squeaked by the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.  Hip-hip-hooray!  Now the Packers and my Irregular Football League team, the Screaming Psychics, share the same record: 2 – 2.  What glorious company to be in.  Next up are the Indianapolis Colts, this Sunday, October 7, at noon, in Indianapolis.  Clobber the Colts, please, Packers.  Visit mayhem and violence upon them.  Erase the Colts from the face of the Earth.  Die, Colts, die!  Oh my.

I saw Mr. OrbsCorbs’ blog about Mr. Mayor Dickert sending out letters to nonprofit organizations asking them to pay their “fair share” of property taxes.  I think all of those organizations should send Mr. Mayor Dickert a letter asking him to pay his “fair share” of the legal bills he has inflicted upon us.  I do not see one sign of any cutbacks at City Hall.  On the contrary, they live quite opulently in their castle.  Didn’t Mr. Mayor Dickert once say he was going to take a cut in pay?  Did he ever?  Ugh, it puts a bad taste in my mouth to ponder these things.

I can hardly wait to see our newest roundabout in action.  It’s right in front of City Hall and a block away from the Police and Fire Departments, so accidents will receive a very rapid response.

Below is a fall color map for Wisconsin as of yesterday:

Most of the state is peaking right now, but we’re just about to.  When we’re peaking, you’ll see all sorts of colors.  Oh dear.

Q; What did one fortuneteller say to the other fortuneteller when they met on the street?
A: “You are fine. How am I?”

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog. It warms the cockles of my heart when visitors drop in.  I love my readers, Irregular and otherwise.

Have a question? Here’s the answer: madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com.

Enjoy the coming week, my dears.  I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful one.  Remember, turn that frown upside down by standing on your head.   Xenomancy!

Racine Nonprofits to Pay Property Taxes?

Bunped: the Journal Times finally woke up:  http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/city-seeks-help-letter-asks-tax-exempt-groups-to-help/article_65709488-0c86-11e2-97f8-001a4bcf887a.html

I met a friend earlier today who is active in a local nonprofit organization.  He told me that the organization, and all Racine nonprofits, received a letter from Dickert asking them to pay city property taxes.  He said the letter noted the services that the city provides.

Wow.  We can afford half million dollar bathrooms at City Hall, but Dickert's legal problems must be costing us a mint.  Before he is done, all of Racine will be nonprofitable.

I wouldn't want to tangle with her, either.
