you thank the family, it was their sacrifice as well :) silly thing - when I woke up to rain, I actually smiled, it was as if it was to help take the focus off the cook outs and back to why we have this day. We complain about the weather all the time, our military is out in all conditions everyday.
I consider Memorial Day a day to ESPECIALLY honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect out freedom...A deep and most heartfelt Thank You!
It is, for me, a time also to reflect upon the many civilians killed for the same or similar causes. These were the innocent, whose destiny was ill-fated, but yet part of the entire picture on battles fought against terrorism and other extremist activity.
I also remember my personal losses.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
I stop to thank those who step up and do the dirty work to protect our rights, our freedoms, to keep our country free from the oppression that many face.
I also reflect how lucky we are to be born into this great country where we need not be fearful to be who we are. Where we can work hard to be successful, raise a family and afford comforts and luxuries that only some can dream of.
Freedom isn't free. Thank you to those who keep us safe. Thank you to those who put themselves in harms way to keep our country safe and to protect our freedom.

How do you thank a guy or girl how gave the ultimate sacrifice?
I guess it’s just by never forgetting what they did for our country.
